I went "all in" S fund for a very short term after the drop Monday. Looking to get back in the I fund very soon. This fv issue makes reading the I fund harder.

My concern is the US Dollar start a hard rally. It is a matter of time. That is the main reason to avoid the I Fund. Also, the I Fund had a amazing rally and did not sell off like the other funds. When was the last time, we saw the I Fund fall more 1%? You have to think. Also keep in mind about the new terrorist scare. Many might lock profits and not hold going into the weekend.

The no-brainer is just using the strategy of the OSM following the USM. A big move in the USM can initiate an OSM follow for the next day.

Is anyone else thinking about staying in the "I" for Friday and then getting out for the weekend ? I am still waiting for the Nikkei to have a big pop like the FTSE.

Why Was the Nikkei down today/yesterday and everywhere else was GREEN ?

Im devating into jumping in the I for Friday only but I think that if the investors are going to get out for the weekend then we will take a hit tomorow since we have to take the days end results. In other words if you are in today and want to get out for the weekend u might want to do it today b4 the deadline instead of the after sell off price Friday night. Does that make sence?

Makes sense...

Do you think Monday will be a big day if no serious threats happen during the weekend ? Everyone will buy back in after locking in profits ?

Monday could be a big day....but we have until noon est Friday to make that move. Better wait..... I made my move to the lili pad from the S fund. So Friday I'm all G fund. Will make a desition tomorow for Monday.

The Nikkei fell due to a spike in the Yen that was short lived but the Nikkei never had a chance to fully recover.

This is definitely a no-brainer and I would like to stay in the I fund and wait for Japan to rally, but the USM indexes are at the top of their channels and OSMs are up 1%. There were some huge bets that were just put in against the markets that will expire next week.

As for Monday, Bear Sterns will report on their 2 hedge fund losses. Do you want to be around for that??:D

Wrngway that's right, up days are shown for patterns (1, 2, 4 and 7) that go to stocks (2 or more greens) using the C, S and I-fund.

And down days are shown for patterns (3, 5, 6 and 8) that go to safe haven (2 or more reds) using the C, S and I-fund.

Ex. Pattern 1 (3 greens/stocks):
For the C-fund: 16/29, means it was up 16 times in 29 appearances.
For the S-fund: 16/28, means it was up 16 times in 28 appearances.
For the I-fund: 18/28, means it was up 18 times in 28 appearances.

Ebb, how is it that there can be more "appearances" of the C fund than the S and/or I when the existence of pattern implies all three? I presume your data does not go back to pre-S/I fund days. Am I missing something simple/obvious?

Yep, it's due to the S-fund and I-fund having no gain/loss in one of those days. A day with no gain or loss is neither up nor down, and that's why I didn't include it. :)

Note: A day with no gain or loss for a fund won't be counted on the pattern tally.

How close are we to a +FV? Seems to me that it is getting near that point. Does anyone have an answer?

Thx in advance.:)

Well, Check out the What is an FV post under the I Fund forum. That helps provide insight.

I really thought that with the way the market opened up and sustained, that the dollar might start getting stronger. But I see it has maintained it's level from this morning. But, because it is not an exact science, I get confused when I see conditions today and no FV.

I usually wait for the "experts" to chime in on what the FV possibility is. They're better equipped for the speculation.
