350Z's 2007 I Fund Thread

I forgot about the FV repay today. My apologies to the guys at TSP, they haven't lost their minds, I have . That makes a lot more sense. Already the inital enthusiaism in Japan and Australia looks to be wearing off, but in this volatility, who knows, maybe they will move enough to zero out a 28 cent FV. Still the switch to the I could prove to be profitable.

The Nikkei 300 didn't do squat ending at -.40%. Right now, the European markets need to finish close to +2.00% each for the I-fund to stay even with the -28 cent FV. I don't think that's going to happen. Only hope now is for the dollar to cooperate and another +FV after the Fed speaks.

Sounds like a possible scenario is that they take back some of the FV that the I doesn't make up for and (if I'm right) if US sells off after the fed we get a neg. FV. If either or both of these it seems its a good buying opportunity.
I hate FV's and I'm terrible about taking advantage of them. Those experts out there, will you give your opinions? Thanks

I wrote this last night.:)

Tomorrow is Fed day. We could definitely see another +FV. But if the market is disappointed with the Fed, the I fund could get a -FV on top of a +FVC. What this means is that the I fund could be a big bargain tomorrow.

And so far, the dollar is up today. The I fund is currently down 17 cents.

Reminder: I can't do final estimates for the next two weeks.

Sorry, I just didn't read enough. Thanks for your input. Glad to know I'm on the right track.
Thanks 350Z

This lack luster follow through in Asia and some of Europe means TSP still overshoot the mark with yesterday's 28 cent FV. We appear to be setting up for an excellent FV correction play. The dollar index already has upward momentum building and, if the Fed holds, could spike really helping to push down the entrance price tonight.

I'm going to move to the I. I'm confident that stocks will hold in the this range for a little while, because the big boys have shown us their a$$ and how desperate they are to keep this market above the 10% correction level.

I'm thinking about doing the same, but I do have a few concerns.

1: Mortgage lenders are blowing up left and right. If another big sub-prime hedge fund blows up, we will be looking for support.

2: The Yen is rising significantly today. It could reverse overnight though.

3: CISCO reports after the bell. If they miss, look out below. Especially if you're in the S fund. A big cushion in the I fund for tomorrow would be nice.

Hope they suprise. Chambers doesn't sandbag and last earnings rpt they tanked but they were on the top of their channel. I'm up to my ears in csco and following close. Hoping for the whisper number of .36 cents. Will move tsp funds to I fund if EFA or XLF bust above that upper channel before IFT deadline... we may see it.

The rise in the Yen and the rise in the dollar against the Pound/Euro this early in the day, suggest to me that FX traders are not expecting anything dovish from the Fed. This could be a head fake, but if they're right, we could very well see -FV this afternoon. Which would be a nice cushion in case CISCO misses. But if they beat, well, lets not go there yet...:)

Why is it that when I say I can't do estimates, nobody is willing to post them? But when I'm doing them, we get 3-4 different people posting estimates... WTF.

He he thats pretty funny. Maybe everyone is cheating off of you? :D

You think they have to give it back tomorrow or the next day?
They always give it back the next day, but sometimes the next-day has a UfV of it's own.

Definiation of a UfV: if the EFA closes (at 4PM ET) above/below 0.5% where it was at 1130 AM ET, then the I-Share price that day is the MSCI % for that day plus the %difference in the EFA between 1130 and 4. If there was a UfV the previous day then it is added or subtracted.

350Z...I would love to post estimates for you while you're unavailable, however; I will be out of the country for 3 weeks myself.

350Z I should point out that I appreciate the estimates you provide.
I myself would be happy to provide the estimates if I had a clue how
to go about it.

Thanks
