< 1 pct. IFT Option

Re: <1%IFT Option

Tom,

Is there a chance that we can edit most of the posts out of this thread and just keep the ones that explain the <1% option and then make this a read option only? Thanks.

Re: <1%IFT Option

dannyboy what are you looking for??? If it is an explaination of the <1% option then that can be found on the last page.
I am sorry that I hit the sft G instead of the sft H. I hope that all those just looking for complaint material, can overlook that. It's been another long day and I have a lot of respect for those who input TSPTalk. :)
No harm, or disrespect intended.

Not at all Dannyboy. The clearing of non related posts was mentioned
some time ago, I just never got the chance to ask Tom or a Mod to do
it for me. Nasa's post had nothing to do with being upset or angry, but,
to help seperate the chit-chat so you can find <1%IFT information that
much easier to find. ;)

I think this was the post that SB was referring to... :)

That I was Kevin ! ;) It covered much of the basics which newer
members might find useful to know. Thanks.

Re: <1%IFT Option

Sorry, should have explained my post better. I had all the right information in my head I just didn't type it out.

Re: <1%IFT Option

Went to <1%IFT Levels today. Nice run this month. Try'n to keep it ! :D

84%(G) 1%(F) 5%(C) 5%(S) 5%(I) :)

Chem, I see you added a % to your 5%'s and made them 6%.
I went the other way and lowered my risk on this bounce up.
Good Luck ! ;)

Re: <1%IFT Option

Yea....This month will be my first attempt to utilize <1% since i got scarred and bailed to G. ..... I guess i should be grabbing profit on the way up.....maybe it will work.....very frustrated right now with my decision making.

Re: <1%IFT Option

Since we have some new members I wanted to dust off this account. It has been over a month and all the way back on page 5.

Anyway if you have any questions about the <1% option post to my account.

Re: <1%IFT Option

Moderators, Any discussion on making this account a read only and cleaning up some of the information:confused::confused::confused:

<1%IFT Option - Bumpin' for the Newbies...

Bumping this thread for the newbies...

The definition and techniques behind using small unlimited IFTs are on page one of this thread. Thoughts follow.

Here is one thought.

Lets say you got scared yesterday - maybe you thought America was going to lose 1,000,000 jobs in July or something. You used your second IFT to run to safety - by the way, not stupid after October, November, and March. Now, you may miss on a major rally over the next few days.

Well you are in luck. Your salary contributions gave you 0.02 holdings in the C, S, and I funds today. So now you can use SqualeBear's technique to bump them to 1% each. Then hope Monday bumps them to 1.x% so you can bring them up with another free IFT to 2%. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.:cheesy:

If you mix in the L Funds you can reallocate a significant portion of your assets in small increments every day (3% - 5% every day).

Enjoy...

Not only for the newbies, can you review your experiences with IFT's within the L-Funds. I
request this review as I have been under the impression that the L's are subject to the same
restrictions that the other funds are under. I apologize if this is a repeat as I remember this
being talked about somewhere in the past. Currently, I find myself contributing $1.00 to the
TSP on a biweekly basis as my circumstances have dramatically changed since May. There's
a good chance that I'll be one of those Medically Retired participants who can not tolerate risk,
as I did in the past. My <1%IFT method might become a way of life for me. That, along with
fixed monthly withdraws could easily become my new reality.

Thanks for bumping this thread out of the dust and keeping it alive.

Re: <1%IFT Option

Ok, today is the first day that my account represents my typical attempt to beat the (G) Fund, in lieu of bailing out all together. One glitch, I've got 85% in the (F) Fund instead of the (G) Fund. This was done to reap a quick profit from Friday's dismal Bond returns. As I expected, the AGG closed down -0.58% and the (F) Fund closed down -0.35% on friday. I moved into the (F) with thoughts of a rebound within the next two trading days. We'll see soon enough. The 5% I have within each of the Stock Funds meet my risk tolerance for now. Should we continue to rise, I will use my ability to make unlimited <1%IFT's and boost each fund until the end of August. Good Luck everyone !

Re: <1%IFT Option

Sounds like a plan SB. Hope it works well.
I am currently CSI 45,45,10. If it looks like we will finish up today I may move 10-20% into the garage. (Have not decided yet).

Thanks WorkFE ! So far, so good ! My (F) Fund should open for trading soon and I have my fingers crossed. Although my stock funds are doing well right now, the (F) at 85% could very well change me into negative territory. ;)

Re: <1%IFT Option

The AGG opens up +0.11% but one can't get too excited this early in the
game ! I'm leaning towards pulling out of the (F) quickly, maybe as early
as today before 12 noon. I'll know better by 11:40am ! ;)

Re: <1%IFT Option

Decision Made and entered on the TSP Website;

63%(G)
25%(F)
04%(C)
04%(S)
04%(I.)

Took profits from the stock funds by lowering my 5% to 4% for each of the 3 funds (C,,,,S,,,,I).

I cut my 85% (F) risk down to 25% or twice the size of my risk in the stock funds.

Last but not least, I locked in 63% into the (G)arage until a better entry point or correction.

Trading at the top (in fact: above) the Bollinger Bands will lead to a dip.
Maybe not the correction thats being called by so many. Climbing on the
wall of worry is so cool  but nerve racking.

My decision made on Friday for today resulted in approximately 2.5 weeks
of (G) Fund returns at the current interest rate. Assuming the market
closes similarly. I'll Take It !

Hope Everyone Does Well ! $CHA-CHING$ !

Re: <1%IFT Option

Was on the road today. At 11:59 I would have held my position hoping for a positive day so tomorrow I could have added 4 more percent. But no. Had to end slightly negative.

Maybe tomorrow. Back to the blender. Hope I can stay up for the shuttle launch. :D
