Yemen - Another Threat

"U.S. officials also remain concerned about two dozen Somali Americans who disappeared into the Al Shabaab training camps in Somalia in the last 18 months. Their American passports would allow them to reenter the United States."

If an 8 year old Cub Scout is on the watch list then you would think the two dozen Somali Americans could be as well. Flag their passports and check them head to toe before boarding. If they refuse they are no longer Somali Americans, they are just Somalians.

You should have seen him when he was 2 years old, first time he was frisk, looked like he was packing something in his diper. They had to get out the Mass Spec and Chem detectors to identify it.:D

How did they first suspect him? Scent dogs. I'm my own best audience.

Gotta keep an eye on them Cub Scouts! DHS Secretary Napolitano has them on a list of "Right Wing Extremist" Organizations to be watched.

If only it were so easy to take away U.S. citizenship from someone. This is yet another example of how broken immigration and naturalization system is.

It's not so simple as that. The reality is that we're at the mercy of the country that produces the passport. If a country chooses to produce a fake identity for a known terrorist (guess what, we usually don't have fingerprints of terrorists) then they can probably gain entry into the US, if they also fake other documents. Usually governments can do that.

There's also a largely open border on Mexican and Canadian borders.

There's also the fake US passport scam. Each state has its own birth certificate that they issue. There's no federal control over state birth certificates. Oh yeah, if you get caught getting a fake passport, you can go to jail for a looong time.

It's much easier frisking old ladies and little kids than going after terrorists! Me thinks we must get and act smarter, otherwise we'll be blown to smithereens!

I truly believe we should blow any pirate ship approaching any US vessel ...out of the fricking water! If you're an easy target they will never stop taking ships. Other countries will have to protect their own ships. Ships registered in countries that have no military will have to hire private security or contract with the US to blow terrorists ships out of the water (if allowed by US law which it probably is not). Yemen is just building up a nest egg...so they can buy better weapons, and fund other terrorists activities against us.

The government of Yemen is on our side on this, at least most of the government. It's a complicated situation, not simple by any means. We're not going to deploy troops there.

It's a multi-cornered war, similar to many countries in South Asia. The central government is weak. There are several insurgencies, including Al-Qaeda, their mortal enemy the Shi'ites (that's new to Yemen by the way, they used to get along very well), the Iranians and the Saudis. After absorbing a pro-soviet country some years ago, the country became larger, but also harder to govern.

It's what happens when societies change.

Perhaps some of you mean.....Somalia?

You gotta give Al-Qaeda one thing, they know which countries to target for expansion.
