Thanks for the posts! Pike's Peak is pretty amazing... need to get back in the swing of things. Not sure what to think at this point, DCB (a big one at that), or a short rally... tempted to test the waters; the burro ark is on a buy...
 
DCB it was! Holy volatility Batman! If this slide continues, I'll be moving back up the tracker... holding fast for now, maybe some good buying opportunities setting up for the fall. (we have some project due dates in September already; where did the summer go? Same place every year... I'm taking Friday off!)

Uggghhhh... I think I'm nearly brain dead! I kept reading this and wondering what is DCB??? Holy Enlightenment Batman! Dead Cat Bounce!! :nuts:!
 
DBA, you crack me up! :D

Was tempted to jump in today (channeling half the top 20, FWM and liking the seasonality); still, the down turn this morning, though it could end up flat again, it putting me off. Reports of oil and china stabilizing are a plus; then I checked an old link I had on my PC at home (off today :D ) and read how the economy, looking at retail sales, really kinda stinks:

Hi Whipsaw!! I also stayed out of market. I still see downtrend in charts but I think a few days will be up next week. It just keeps whipsawing... I still want to wait until it looks better. Seasonality should be good for last couple weeks of this month. I dunno...maybe I should have jumped on board today.

Dang! I just want to jump into a big rally!!! :party:

I hear you DBA, I think we may be entering the realm of the 1-2 day trade to see any gain (ala Burro; FWM); that's tough when you can only do that once a month! This article popped on Drudge: Doomsday clock for global market crash strikes one minute to midnight as central banks lose control - Telegraph
Not very encouraging... As of right now, Asian markets via Marketwatch show a mix (Nikkei up .34; Shanghai down .78), futures are down. Hmmmm.... Any thoughts on the article, anyone? Where's Birchtree when you need him?!

I think it is safe to say BT would encourage buying even as market caves.... DCA! Great prices! The article goes along with the below info.

Just now learning about accumuation/distribution indictors and Dow theory. So here's the latest sweet little bedtime horror story I read last night! Both DJIA ($INDU)and DJTA ($TRAN) have crossed below their June lows....exit signal!

Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark... Top of the hour Dow Jones reporter was saying its a good time to buy individual stocks (on sale), but not the larger market (the playground the TSP is stuck in), that there is likely another significant leg down. #11 on the Tracker :sick:, would be nice to break into the top ten :rolleyes:. At any rate, even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there! Would like to catch a DCB but I can't be that nimble at the moment. More power to the folks that dove in today! Catch that bounce and run like a thief! From the lilly pad, have a great weekend, down a few cold ones, and worry about it on Monday, Whipsaw out.

Gutsy move to try catching this Ginsu...but using 40% makes it a smart play if you're in the mood to play. If you guess right and catch a 2-3% uptick you make a nice 1%. You guess wrong, you're not out as much.

Did not see you on IFT of the Day...maybe I missed it or you changed your mind last second?
 
Didn't get it done in time; As I was working the IFT request the browser went stupid. (read: waited to long, missed the deadline). The CNN talking heads are making it sound like we're out of the woods, best buys were this morning, news driven market... etc. Hmmmm...

Lol, that happened to me once or twice...ended up actually saving me if I remember correctly.

Speaking of talking heads...similar on CNBC...3 on the panel were pimping this being close to a buying point (and for a short term I might agree) then 2 of the guys suggested what I've been saying...this fall has been starting since January with the Transports, and this is not going to be a 1-2 week event, that this could be the trend for several months. As they were breaking to commercial, one of the CNBC talking heads who was campaigning this to be a buying opportunity gave himself away, telling the 2 bearish analysts 'Hey guys, we've got sponsors".

Maybe he thought he was off the air...but that convinced me more of the current situation. If they tell everyone to go sell and don't come back for 6 months, they lose millions in sponsorship (Ameritrade, etc) as well as viewership since why bother tuning in if you need to check out for a few months.
 
I knew it! Newsreaders on the take, manipulating the viewing audience... shameful. Gives more credence to the contrarian approach. Big question is who to believe (TSP Talk members, that's who!)...

Interesting article... in a nutshell, market declines take 5 mo. to unfold, 4 mo. back to break even. Did this one start in June? A CNBC.com article called for an October bottom. Hmmmm...

Yeah I tried to get in yesterday too, but couldn't. Gotta decide if I go more in and try to ride the wave a few days or get out to G for a bit.
 
Tough call, check out Nordic's thread... hard to say how long this snap back rally may go.
