Whipsaw's Account Talk

China's market has dropped 30% since mid June [side note, China markets took an 6% hit yesterday, no mention of that on the FoxBusiness site last night]. Transports are down over 8% since mid April, I fund down ~7% since mid-May. S-Fund off by less than 2% since Mid-Jun when I jumped out. F-Fund is climbing, maybe the inverse relationship to stocks is returning. Still don't trust it though. This to me points to more downside; check out FWMs thread... thoughts?

Good morning America....and you too WS.:D:D:D I was going to jump into the F Fund and have held off. I think I'll continue to do that until next Monday when Puerto Rico meets with creditor CITI and others. The news will be impactful to the F Fund. I'd go in F now but it would be a quick in and out and that wastes my IFTs. Besides if there's going to be a big day for F, my guess is that it will be today. Best of Luck to all in your investing.

Was watching the sell off yesterday and doing a little math and figured I'd move up a few slots on the tracker. #3! Holy crap! Going to enjoy it today, if the market follows through with the futures SignStealer will likely bump me out of the #3 spot today. Now, of course, the big question is when to jump back in. Maybe a 50% position, and then the rest when we bottom or continue heading up? Is today a DCB or short relief rally? What will happen with Greece? Is China headed back up? So many questions...

Hi WS. My guess is that this is a short relief rally. I drew some charts last night based on a 30 year S&P and a 1 year S&P (didn't draw all the lines, just the ones that appeared most intuitive) to see if there was anything I could sense about an upcoming or long term trend. That resulted in a symmetrical triangle for the short term and a descending triangle for the longer term. I'm not the world's best charter but I've decided to sit awhile and see where things go. That may not be the smart short term play but I don't want to be influenced too heavily by greed. My best to you and all the TSPers.

The market is heading in the right direction at the moment; China is moving back up for now; transports are still down; jury is still out on Greece and Peurto Rico... yesterday was the day for the short play, hindsight being 20/20. Might miss a big pop, or a drop... holding position on the lily pad. Have a great weekend everyone!

Decided to bite the bullet and go back in (partial in) today. Went 70 G: 5 C, 15 S, 10 I today to spread the risk a little. The volatility is high and the weekend may change everything but it has been a difficult summer to be invested anyway. Hope for some good luck and good news over the weekend. I'd like to see all of us all able to get back in with the volatility toned down a notch or two. Best to everyone in your investing.

Probably a good idea with the Greek vote tomorrow, but I don't want to be locked out for the rest of July. Dang that IFT limit!

Yep, but you should be happy! Just think of us slobs who bailed and are still out. I'm not feeling too bad since I got out near the highs but I sure wish I had gotten back in near the lows!

Another crony in the hot seat, lost in space. Last week OPM's Chief resigned. Upon her resignation the "Boss" said: "It's quite clear that new leadership with unique skills is badly needed at OPM", really!!!!

Yellen tried to explain the issue about halfway thru but kept getting interrupted.
From the 2:30 point onwards Yellen clearly explained the issue to the young Congressman about the IG investigation timeline, and so when his "allegation" fell apart (which was probably why he kept interrupting her previously), he just resorted to a "Alynsky" smear closing statement on the Fed Chief.

Quite a disgraceful performance by our Congressional's, but then again, not uncommon.

Say FWM, I tend to agree with you. These Congressional Hearings are a cluster "F", a circus if you may. It's just the way the congressional panel members are so in your face when they tend to interrogate in such disrespectful manner, it comes across to me as a sort of bullying, questioning but not allowing for full responses as they interrupt and rant away. It's seems sort of a humiliating way in trying to get answers to serious issues from agency officials. Just my take on the Ringling & Brothers vicious circle.

Yeah. It sets a terrible example. Bosses 'cross 'Merica start to think, "Now that's how you get'er done!"

Personally, I believe it's all acting. The 'victim' being cross-examined is made aware of what's to come..."relax...just...let it happen," they're advised.

Gamesmanship, just like opposing lawyers showing out in court to impress their clients...then quietly, the same lawyers later do lunch.

The cynic in me says that there are predetermined outcomes for most of the nonsense that is going on, all of the hearings and what not are all theater to make it look good; sort of like pro-wrestling...
