Weekly Update

Here's this weekends look at how our fellow TSPers are positioned for this week:

2010 Cash-Stock Exp ~ Top 50 Chart 1.jpg

The Top 50, while backward looking to some extent, still shows those folks sitting on a lot of cash. I am of the mind that much of that cash isn't going anywhere. Probably not for some time. I think what this says is that while it shows a large degree of caution, it also shows that folks know how difficult this market is to stay invested in. With volume as low as it has been, the big money can much more easily move the indexes in the direction they choose and do it fast. Main Street America is largely not playing. And given our limited trading parameters, it should be no wonder so many of us are sitting on the sidelines as well.

A lot of cash has moved into stocks the past three weeks, and it continued last week in spite of very poor action in the markets. I know we're oversold, but sometimes there's a good reason for it and it then continues. Is this one of those times? Of course I don't know, but at this point I'm not feeling too froggy. Our Sentiment Survey says we're overwhelmingly bearish, but this chart suggests we're not all that bearish at all. In fact this chart suggests bullish levels have risen. Go figure.

My Top 15 are largely a reflection of the Top 50. Very cautious and wary.

See you Monday.
