Ok now WE are the ones blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Did you have that backflip on your bingo card? Freedom of navigation? Nope. Turns out the King want his % of the shakedown. Or else he’s gonna sink any ship going to Iran. He blocks all Iran ship traffic. Is he going sink a Chinese or Indian tanker?

ISLAMABAD (AP) — U.S. Central Command has announced that it will begin a blockade of Iranian ports on Monday at 10 a.m. ET.

CENTCOM said the blockade would be “enforced impartially against vessels of all nations” entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas.

It said it would still allow ships traveling between non-Iranian ports to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

Traffic in the Strait has been limited even in the days since the ceasefire. Marine trackers say over 40 commercial ships have crossed since the start of the ceasefire.

Iran currently will not give up on
  1. Nuclear weapons development,
  2. Support of terrorist proxies,
  3. And they cannot de-mine the Straight they mined.
So, they have made their choice.

The blockade is a blockade of Iranian export shipping. Iran already blockaded everyone else - and, they cannot even lift their own blockade because they cannot de-mine the Straight of their own mines. So, we will have to do it.

China and India have a tough choice. Buy oil at market price from Venezuela, Brazil, Nigera, and other sources or try to run the blockade with tankers. Based on the tanker traffic I think their choice has been made.

I'll bet on this:
  • Iran's mining of the Straight sucked, so it will be easy(ish) to de-mine
  • Iran will do absolutely nothing to the assets doing the de-mining
  • We will find a client king in Iran that likes money
  • China will just pay more for their oil habit
  • And, Iran will cease to be a threat.

Man, I didn't know how suck the British navy had become. You can MISSION KILL the entire British navy by damaging a - as in one (1) - destroyer. They no longer have a navy. By definition, a navy 1) must be able to defend against naval aggression, and 2) should be able to project power. They can do neither. Lucky for them that the rest of Europe sucks too.

Seems that the U.S. Navy doesn’t have a single minesweeper within 5000 miles. We got rid of our four stationed in Bahrain in January.

Our DDG destroyer pair went through yesterday at 19.8 knots. Unfortunately, the mine detecting capability on a DDG is limited, and it works best below Ten knots of speed. So no, the U.S. Navy hasn’t figured out where mines might be. They will be scrambling to find any mines- that’s an anti-mining expertise we’ve tossed onto Litterol Combat Ships- you know- that we just sent to Singapore. Great timing.

Two US counter-mine ships based in the Middle East are now in Singapore, Navy says

I have no idea who is going to de-mine the straight, but, as they say- all US Navy ships can be minesweepers, at least once.
