The website... too big, putting a hurt on brick and mortar, taking advantage of USPS...

So how do we cure this problem? Is this a natural change of the process of retail sales or should it be limited to allow folks to pay more at the local stores?

First make amazon pay for shipping. The issue I see is if you need something now, right now, a nearby store is necessary. Auto parts stores are giving big discounts for online orders for local pick up at their stores, which is a compromise, but ultimately hurts the sales person. It will come down to market forces, but the government needs to stay out of the free market (not underwriting shipping; requiring sales tax for online sales for equal playing fields).

I use Amazon all the time, have one arriving tomorrow. The reason is that I get a better deal and don't have to burn gasoline to hop down to the local store and then they don't have the item I want or it's 20% more expensive, not to mention State taxes of 7% sometimes. I don't make the laws the AHOLES in DC do. Is that Free Market Capitalism?moneytree.gif

I just started watching this. The first guy they're interviewing is a futures trader: Rambo John :) . Seems interesting enough, so I've posted it here.

EDIT: The uploader never uploaded part 3, so here is another link to the whole documentary. Slightly poorer quality though:

I posted the above in 2016, but the video is from 1998. Here's John (Rambo) now (June 2018) [Adult Language]:

Childish Gambino Performs ‘This Is America’ at Chance the Rapper’s Open Mic Event (Watch)
https://variety.com/2018/music/news...ance-the-rapper-event-watch-video-1202842534/

"Childish Gambino’s meaning-laden, no-holds-barred song and video “This Is America,” premiered during his memorable stint hosting “Saturday Night Live” last month, has had a deep impact and a resonance on the country it reflects. And while there are plenty of social media posts lauding its significance, they really can’t compare to the reaction Gambino (aka actor/singer Donald Glover) received when he made a surprise appearance at Chance the Rapper’s Open Mic Chicago event Monday night.

Interesting non-political video regarding the/a Federal Employee's lawsuit. I'm not sure if the lawsuit is viable, the video is just something to watch--instead of reading--for those interested in the matter.

That said, it seems problematic, on its face, to require employees to work without pay.

Not the first time... but now it's an issue???

It would always be an issue for me if I worked and didn't get paid. I would think that that would be an issue for everyone. No?

EDIT:

Especially if the word from up high was that it could be months or years before I would get paid--first time for that, no?

Ignoring the edit (if you believe that...), not the point I raised; my point is that this is not the first full or partial shutdown, so why us everyone complaining so loud THIS time?

How about some negotiation?

Well, when the POTUS says he'll keep you without a paycheck for possibly months or years; and you have things like kids, mortgage(s), etc. etc. and,

When you take into consideration all of the other unorthodox things the POTUS has done/said, and,

Whether you actually believe it'll be months or years or just several weeks,

You simply don't know, so,

You may treat this time as 'different.'

Is that so strange?

As far as I know, they have negotiated. But, one side said, must have wall! The other side said, no wall! And, one side walked out of the negotiation.

Now, are you suggesting that it is only one side that isn't negotiating?
