Harriet Tubman $20 bill no longer coming in 2020: Mnuchin says redesign postponed
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/22/harriet-tubman-20-bill-no-longer-coming-in-2020.html

"...The Tubman design was announced in 2016 by former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew following a 10-month process in which the department sought input from the public.
“The decision to put Harriet Tubman on the new $20 was driven by thousands of responses we received from Americans young and old,” Lew said at the time. “I have been particularly struck by the many comments and reactions from children for whom Harriet Tubman is not just a historical figure, but a role model for leadership and participation in our democracy.”

President Donald Trump, months before he was elected, called the decision to put Tubman on the currency “pure political correctness” and proposed putting her portrait on the $2 bill. ..."

Market Mover?

Market Mover?

Seems to have had some impact so far.

My guess is that these Mexico tariffs won't go into effect. There will be some last minute "super duper great perfect we won" deal. Why? Because the R's said that they oppose the tariffs, and Trump doesn't want to be overrode by the R's.

Yeah, well, my guess is there is zero chance of a reprieve from tariffs for Mexico over the weekend, and the market will drop like a stone.

Yes but if that happens, won't the D's claim a V and embolden them to proceed with I against the P, thereby ensuring a V for the P in 2020?

Just funning with you Q...nothing personal.

"Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP."

Sure, anything's possible.

But sometimes you play the (wo)man; sometimes you play the cards. In this case, the cards don't matter as much as the ego of the man. Imo.

No additional free poker lessons today.

This is still fluid, but here's what we have so far...

Mexico, forget what I said about immigration ... just buy some vegetables (or at least say you'll buy some) and we're all good. LOL

Trump says there’s a ‘good chance’ that Mexico averts tariffs with deal that includes purchase of US farm goods
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/07/tru...erts-tariffs-by-purchasing-us-farm-goods.html

“This seems very odd to me,” said former U.S. Department of Agriculture Chief Economist Joseph Glauber, senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington. “I am not even sure what a commitment like this would mean since private importers [in Mexico] do most of the buying.”

... but I can say that some daytraders, as of earlier tonight, expect a gap up on the Futures Sunday ... a gap they'll short.

Ha...yeah...predicting what Trump will do is not easy, but it's easier than predicting how the market will react. I'll have to wait until I run my system before I can offer a guess.

Algo wants to exit today, but it doesn't yet have any price action knowledge from the Tariff rescission over 'the weekend.'

Follow algo anyway, or see what the algo says tomorrow after digesting today's price action (which will then reflect the tariff news). We'll see.

Trump's base probably won't like this. Elections are right around the corner. Watch this one get mysteriously moon-walked too.

The ole create a problem ... then come to your own rescue thingy. :D

Trump wants to start charging stores to accept food stamps
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/07/trump-wants-to-start-charging-stores-to-accept-food-stamps.html
  • Donald Trump wants to charge retailers a fee for accepting food stamps as payment from the poor.
  • The food stamp fee would be reassessed every five years.
  • Budget office predicts $2.4 billion in new revenue from the fee, which is seen hurting independent grocers more than big chains.
  • Separately, the Trump administration is proposing $191 billion in cuts over the next decade to the food stamp program.
