User Reputations

There have been many good posts written by members here the past couple of days / weeks. Have you been giving credit where due using the reputation feature? I know I forget myself on occasion.

Here's a reminder: Use the scale icon above each post on the right side to approve (or disapprove) of a post that deserves some recognition.

If you have any question, please let us know.

Thanks,
Tom

FS, if you click on your "User CP" button you'll see the comments that are left by others. It doesn't tell you who made them though.

I've left this one for a couple people:

Just kidding....................:cheesy:

It takes a few clicks to move up or down. We've seen some move to neutral or down but I think it takes a little more to move up. We'll see some changes as time goes on.

How can you see the comments left for others?

I've left a few but can't figure out what if any affect it is having.

More Info on Reputation

A good message board has good participation and quality posts.

You decide if a member provides good content, helps others, answers questions, asks good questions (yes, novices can have a good reputation), etc. or on the otherside, are they putting other members down, giving misleading or useless information, completely off topic, offensive posts, etc.?

There is some artificial intelligence in this feature in that those who have been around longer, or post more, or have higher reputations themselves, will have more of an affect on others' reputation when they use it.

These are the defaults...

User is infamous around these parts
User can only hope to improve
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past
User is an unknown quantity at this point - Anyone new or with 0 posts will begin here
User is on a distinguished road
User will become famous soon enough
User has a spectacular aura about
User is a jewel in the rough
User is just really nice
User is a glorious beacon of light
User is a name known to all
User is a splendid one to behold
User has much to be proud of
User has a brilliant future
User has a reputation beyond repute

It seemed there was some confusion between user titles and and user ranking or reputations.

The titles are in place to recognize participation. Hang around and contribute to the conversations over the long term and your user title will reflect a "higher" title level. See this thread.

Now I have activated user reputation to address the concern some members had about titles; That is they thought posters were being rewarded for quantity and not quality. Both are important to a successful board so we now have something to reflect active participation and the quality of your input.

To give input on a user's reputation, simply use the scale in the top right of a post to approve or disaprove of a user's post.

Thanks,
Tom
