Uptrend's Account Talk

Thanks for the TA Uptrend. The line I highlighted above seems to be contradictory to what Tom is pointing out in post #137 today (below), which is an expectation of a new leg higher from here, unless we push down even further after today. Hopefully I'm reading that correctly. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Tom is looking merely at a small slice in a chart pattern and corresponding moving average emas for a comparison. IMO without reviewing the indcators that support the pattern, the pre and post periods, and the circumstances that led the markets to that price/time expression, the comparison is of little value. It would be like saying I saw a car on the freeway that looked exactly like mine: therefore we must be related. Further the sample size of 1 is too small. Review 20-30 such set-ups that acted in the same way and we might have something.

The F fund is now buy/hold

My indicators are pointing down.

I am looking for the next wave down to be longer than wave one. A freefall sort of impulse wave. Possible downside target in the 960 area.

For the indicators to go up there needs to be strength in the market. No strength. No volume either. Negative divergences are appearing in the daily and weekly timeframes.

The bear market ABC should play out. Bear watch: Is the battleship taking on water?

Uptrend,
Now of course if I were 100% in High Risk -- and read this it would undoubted make me want to bail and grab whatever I had.

Your input is still highly valuable - and I hope the hell you haven't taken a leave of absense because of the growing Markets.

To me the most valuable lesson all of us can learn is that no one can honestly know how the Markets are going to do over the next week or so. The best you ~~ or anyone ~~ can do is bring out what you've pieced together.

Anyway -- hope you make it back soon

My personal take is that the Markets rallied way too fast. The reason was hugely related to one specific event - and one specific person - that being the honorable and notorious New President. Regardless of what anyone thinks about him -- and even if he's proven to be the opposite of what people had hoped for  - the Fact of having somebody NEW in place -- did more to turn the Markets around than any other event.

However, they rose too fast and for too long ~~ so a fairly substantial and long drawn out 'correction' was unavoidable.

I'd say at this point we are either nearing the end of the correction and the Upward pattern should resume -- much as it did from 3/09 to 12/09 (Best case senario) or a Sideways boring Correction will linger on for awhile. (Worse case senerio)

So I have to say something cause this is the place to get the info you really need ;)

Steady,

If Mr. Uptrend wants to impersonate Otis Redding that's his choice. But it's time for you to get off the dock.

Thanks Birch -- 3 psychiatrists are out today -- so I'm seeing all their patients in addition to everything else

Now all will wonder -- wow how can he laugh ??

Haven't heard from you in a bit Uptrend, just thought I'd step in and give you a shout and see what your market thoughts were.

I am back after 14 days. Unfortunely my brother had a heart attack, so I went out of state to see him. He was riding his bicycle and went unconscious and fell to the sidewalk along a busy street, and thank God did not fall into the highway. It was just getting dark. Someone saw him fall and called 911, but no one stopped and did CPR. The paramedics estimate my brother was dead for 7-9 minutes. His heart was in fibrillation (heart is fluttering but not pumping) and they shocked him to get it back in rhythm and rushed him to the hospital. After a brain scan they decided to put him in cryostatic sleep (the machine where they take your blood out cool it down a bit and put it back in your veins). Of course they use a respirator and feeding tube and put him in critical care where no family could see him. After 3 days of this treatment they slowly warmed him up. This high tech procedure is meant to reduce further swelling on the brain. When they took the sedatives off he was unresponsive for two days. Our hearts fell. Because he had a directive (no feeding tubes etc) they took him to pallative care to die. However on the next day (6 days after the heart attack) he came around and was mumbling and thrashing. The doctor was amazed and plugged the IV back in. That very day he was able to swallow and starting drinking juice. On the 8th day he started talking clearly and had really good long term memory, but the short term memory was confused. They moved him to the heart floor to evaluate his heart. Apparently the heart attack was minor with little heart damage but was enough to throw the heart out of rhythm. They did put a stint in one artery. The brain trauma was the worst, due to lack of oxygen. On day 11 he was up out of bed walking around. On day 12 he had a pacemaker/defibrillator installed. On day 14 he was released from the hospital and is now in an intensive weeklong speech and physical therapy. He is expected to make nearly a full recovery for all practical purposes. He short term memory is improving daily. It is a miracle pure and simple. Praise God.

I will report on the markets by this weekend. Just wanted you to know.

Wow!...
I was wondering where you were lately as I enjoy reading your market reports. What you have been going through has been very traumatic for you and your family. I'm glad your brother is back and pray that he continues to recover.
Bluehenge :)

The best to your Brother Uptrend, he must be one tough guy, they counted him out and he surely wasn't! It sounds like he will be fine.:D

Uptrend, Glad to hear that your brother is on the road to recovey. He wasn't ready for the white light. Our prayers are with you and your family.
