tsptalk's Market Talk

LOL,

Guess the "political propaganda" is OK on "non-political" threads as long as your politics are of the right wing persuasion.

Memo to all of you...jobs numbers have been trending up (unemployment down) for a while, not just near election time. Time to get with reality.

By the way, James posted the results and / or commented on every jobs report this year, except one. Guess which one? (and I didn't delete any of them). :)

Here's a little more reality for you, FWM. A graph that tells an equally important piece of the story. Unemployment rate has been coming down, granted. Logically the employed proportion of the population should be going up proportionately on the flip side of that equation. You'd think. Not happening. ratio of employed to total population-No better off on that score than we were back in mid-09. population still growing, more people giving up on finding work. more people unemployed in absolute terms than back in 09 even. :worried:

Not to mention, most of the growth has come from low paying jobs.

Problem is Bigtime Investors know this. Mom and Pop do not. You get what the Big Boys decide to give you. Cynical? You betcha!

As FWM reminded us, this isn't in the political forum, but I can copy them over there if anyone wants to keep the discussion going. My fault since I started it.

Geopolitical issues aside, can we now rest assured that the sky is no longer falling...no need to load up on bonds and gold...its OK to be in the market long term still.

US job openings near 13-year high, hiring rises

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The number of U.S. job openings remained near the highest level in 13 years in July, and companies also stepped up hiring that month to the fastest pace in nearly seven years, two signs the job market is slowly healing....

I have cognitive dissonance, so for me this is not a time to lean too far forward.

Right after I post I have cognitive dissonance and not leaning forward (buying) and the markets go down.

What's up with that? Maybe traders were looking up the meaning of what I said first. Just kidding, if it were only that easy.
