Re: TSP Talk Mug Shots!

Don't worry about the copyright, burro. You have my permission to use our logo.

hey tom, once we get over the 250 round halfway mark do you have an image of the logo i could start with in .jpg .bmp or .tiff format? and what fonts do you use for the 'friends don't let friends buy and hold' and 'tsptalk.com' text?

i'll work up some prototypes and put them out for review here before we send to the mint for them to rework into something that can be stamped onto silver and give us a quote on die creation fees.

Re: TSP Talk Mug Shots!

ok, gotta up my pledge to 26. now i owe tsp-roulette an extra ounce for his donkey vid. well played.

226 then. and we're on our way.

I am in favor of the 1/4 ounce divided back side. How about letter in each division representing the 4 funds we use to output perform to G fund. F, C, S & I.

Just a thought.

Re: TSP Talk Mug Shots!

The thing to do would be to find some old duffer that was saving pre-1965 quarters and 50 cent pieces - they are all silver. As well as old silver dollars. My younger brother stole my quarters to put in the coke machine when he was a teenager - just my luck.

Put me down for 25.

I already have a silver collection, this would be a nice addition. I have a 100 oz ingot, a few 'rounds', a pre-1965 cache of silver coins, and a nice collection of Morgan Silver Dollars (some circulated, some uncirculated, some rated MS64).

Sounds like fun. I am OK with a generic reverse if it saves some $$. I do prefer 'rounds'. Any type of TSPtalk design on the obverse would be fine with me.

Thanks for starting this up, burro! What is the latest count?

Wow I butchered that, huh. I meant to say "outperform the G fund."

Re: TSP Talk Mug Shots!

round count is now 256/500, and we're past the halfway point.

which is way better than passed the halfway house, i can't remember the last time i did that. i know there is some folks on here that really don't like me, but they probably would like some tsptalk silver... so c'mon in the water's fine, i won't bite. truce, this is bidness, no personal crap here, that's what account talk threads are for.

tsptalk: 50
burro: 26, includes a tip for tsp-roullette and his stupid donkey video
james: 25, maybe more
sensei: 5, maybe more if he hawks his grandpa's legacy
rlundy: 25
danny: 20, and he's right there are chartist's on this sight that can help time the purchase for max return
bronco07: 25
swavet: 20, maybe more if he can hawk his stamp collection
birchtree: 0, because he's mad at his brother for stealing his lunch money, but maybe
bmnevue: 5, maybe more if he can massage his wife's feet real good
rmi: 25, but only if scored on reverse for breaking into 1/4's
zzzgator: 0, but starting to sniff around the silver bush, let's give him a warm welcome

alevin: 5
uscfanhawaii: 25

ok, i'll get to work on the graphics part.

does anybody want to volunteer to be the spreadsheet wizard? we could use something more formal to track usernames and ounces reserved. also add a more columns to later track cost of custom tsptalk dies per ounce and premium over spot and spot price and maybe a misc column to account for shipping for when tom starts to divvy it up.

so eventually we'll need some polls to settle format and design, but we're not there yet and i don't want to clutter the place up, i do enough of that already. i'm about set the design team in motion so let's have some more feedback along the lines of bmvenue and rmi.

the preliminary questions seem to be:

ingot (rectangle) or coin (round)
divisible (scored on reverse) or solid
generic reverse or two distinct heads/tails images
bulk or showpiece (the mint i think offers each round in an individual plastic case or tubes of 25)

if you have skin in the game, chime in.

Rounds, not in individual case, not divided. keep it simple. other than that, I'm ok with end result.

C'mon Birch! Pick up 25 or 50 or more....you can paste them on your wall and thereby add to your 'wallflowers'. :D

Re: TSP Talk Mug Shots!

i can't see the spreadsheet on my phone. i guess i better just dig the laptop out and fire it up since i'll need to see if it still works to do the graphics anyways.

My Suggestions are: Bulk tubes, tails side divisible (scored on reverse), 1/4 oz or .25 oz labels on the back like your example photo, and a heads image that has the logo in the center and the 4 TSP Funds around the edge in a 4 part band, so if the coin is broken you have a 1/4 piece with the words C,S, I or F Fund on the round edge... like a slice of pizza with the word S FUND being the raised crust.

Thanks,
Danny

Burro,

Count me in for 20...

I like the idea of coins with the TSPTalk Logo. Not too worried about slicing them up in pies though:-}... Maybe the obverse (the back???) could be of two designs:
1) for those who have to buy the coins like me - I never win anything:embarrest:, and 2) for all those monthly and annual winners out there:).

Ok, If you can make it happen...I'll definitely go in for 20....maybe more..gotta think about that. I love silver! Well...really just love anything shiny! Now I'm dreaming of Gold!

Prefer rounds, TSP Talk logo..and whatever group wants.

296/500 now. whoa whoa whoa, slow down a little folks. this might take some time. how am i supposed to pay for my share? i don't even know if i'm getting a tax refund yet this year.

Don't slow em down..keep the momentum going!! Come on folks get in now.

Burro, maybe folks would be encouraged by saying your planning coin layout in April and collecting funds in May...ordering in June. Time for everyone to get their bucks in order. Your call...your running the show! As for the refund, get creative.. There are always a few scraps (deductions/credits) people overlook...

Uh, I bought shares of Novell in the 90s. And, last year I under-performed by S&P500 by double digits. And, I still own some Microsoft shares. And, I bought a front loaded mutual fund in the 90s - with a load of 5%. And, I got back into the market on 2008/10/22.

And...
