TSP Talk Silver Coins / "Rounds"

To be honest, I'm not up on the whole silver coins experience and that's why I have been following burrocrat's lead. Maybe once I own it, the whole process will sink in. For now, I'm going to go with what Burro said last week. See #2 below...

One thing I will do, bmneveu... anyone who has already reserved an order on this thread will get my spot + $4. No more.

I was told I locked in at $15.92 this morning, but I haven't gotten it in writing yet.

ok silver bugs, this deal is a go. the silver train will be leaving the station. all aboard!

tom has reviewed several designs and the final version has been selected. you can see it here when confirmation from the mint and a finish graphic is confirmed.

this is significant because tsptalk is going to pay the cost to manufacture the dies. that is not small potatoes, roughly 10% of the entire order on a batch of 500, 1 large, and an immediate discount of about $2.00 per coin to the retail purchaser if we had to bear that expense communally.

more details will be coming on pricing (it's more than fair and transparent), and shipping/handling/insurance (fair again).

for now it is important to note 2 things:

1) "tubes" or "sleeves" of custom mint silver come in units of 20 coins, so some folks might want to adjust their pledge quantity up to increments of 20 not 25 if full tubes and only full tubes is a concern. odd lot orders not in increments of 20 are also still available at the same price per coin, one size fits all.

2) tsptalk silver will never be cheaper than the original spot + strike + delivery costs. there is no incentive to wait. i'll explain that later too.

get 'em while it's hot. pledge up if you want some.

By the way, I was going to jump on the silver price as soon as it went below $16, which I did this morning, but the breakdown in the chart this morning makes it look like it could go lower - unless this is one of those holiday moves...

Tom how will pricing work for you selling to us? Will you sell at the market price that you got it for, or the market price that day?

Bmneveu,

Tom will buy the silver at spot price. Since he is one of the Kleptocratic Capitalistic Criminals on this site - like me - he is going to take advantage of everyone and apparently buy silver now/soon to grab all he can while the poor silver owning folks are selling at panic prices. See above post. After that there is about a $4 fee for handling and shipping.

If the price of silver crashes because the Hunt Brothers sell their ill-gotten hoard you still have to pay the spot price he paid plus the shipping. That is another reason the Capitalist Oppressor is looking at today's spot price for a steal.

Anyway, I welcome the oppression of the small silver holders and welcome Tom's grasping of the 'opportunity'. If he buys well we save some of our personal ill-gotten hoard acquiring the fruits of the Hunt Brothers Labor. If he buys poorly than some poor member of the Hunt family will be able to eat that evening and I will own some very nice baubles. But, I just realized I will own some very nice baubles anyway so me like em cheap!!! In the end, the price as documented by the Donkey is spot plus $4.

Re: things to do with tsptalk silver

that is a good price! sub-$16 silver and $4 ship/handle/insurance premium for custom tsptalk silver coins, woohoooo!

tom did they ever get you a finish design graphic after the last modifications? i want to see it and dream about my stacks of silver!

if time frames go sort of as planned, it could be ready to go by mid-febraury, if a get a tax refund uncle sam will be paying for some of my shiny coins.

Okay, so $19.92 for those that have reserved their share already. So I owe ya $200 roughly. I might jump in for more after I receive the coins and touch and feel them. Something about that will probably convince me to buy more.

Plus the additional overcharge fee. :D

Re: things to do with silver

Boom! Silver down big today - under $16. I think I will place the order if they're around.
Dang, still falling. It's fallen another $0.36 since I bought this morning...

  • metal... bid....... ask
  • Silver...$15.47...$15.56

Maybe it works like an IFT and you'll get the end-of-day closing price!

i am happy with the $15.92 price. i would've been happy getting it last week at $16.75 too. and next week if i had money i would be happy to buy more at whatever that price would be too. i really like silver.

i don't plan on ever selling it, for a profit or a loss, anyways.

Welcome aboard the silver train!!

20 is one sleeve, and several of us are ordering 1 sleeve + 5 or 10 more to do with in various ways (gifts, pocket change, coin flipping, etc). Let us know if you want to up your order! (PS. Anybody else want to increase their order?!)

Glad to have you aboard!!

The current count:

30 burro
05 alevin
10 bmvenue
25 rlundy
70 tsptalk
30 uscfanhawaii
50 james48843
25 bronco07
20 boghie
20 travelingman

= 285.

So with Alevin increasing to 10.....The current count is:

30 burro
10 alevin
10 bmvenue
25 rlundy
70 tsptalk
30 uscfanhawaii
50 james48843
25 bronco07
20 boghie
20 travelingman

= 290

Anyone else want to jump on the train....or increase their order?!? :D :D

What? I misread Tom's number. He said under 16. I was trying to say I'd buy a few more if he gets the spot price he wants, now that the upcoming strain on my ready cash has eased slightly. anyone else not already on board can buy as much as they want after Tom takes the plunge. I've been onboard since the beginning, my choice how much I add to the initial amount I've been committed to all along, regardless of spot. biting my tongue right now.

i owe alevin an apology. i'm sorry alevin. i poked fun at your sub-$15 silver comment thinking it would not go below $16 and here it is halfway below 16 and well on the way to 15. nice job on the double up pledge from 5 to 10 units there.

first, thank you uscfan for your bookkeeping the tally and your tireless dedication to seeing this tsptalk silver deal happen, you have revived this deal on more than one occassion.

so here is what i'm going to do: out of my 30 ounces i buy, i am going to send you one, for free, for your efforts. hopefully tom can adjust original shipments and send me my 29 for which i bought 30 and add an extra sheckel to your lot. if not i will mail it to you myself. nice work cuz.

deal. mark it.

Thanks for the good words, Burro!! I was just trying to help keep it going so it would regularly show up in the 'Recent Posts' list!! :toung:

Thank you for the offer, but thank you even more for starting this all up! I think TSP rounds are a really cool idea!

So now that you have buttered me up....I guess I really have to deliver!

I went back thru ALL the posts on this thread, and I found quite a few 'sleepers' who did not reaffirm orders, and some more that said they were interested but for one reason or another, were not ready to commit. Also, there was some confusion (mine?) over how many coins are in a sleeve. There are 20. Confirmed. So please, when confirming your order, just put down the total number you would like. multiples of 20 will come in 'sleeves'.

So here's the most current tally:
30 burro
10 alevin
10 bmvenue
25 rlundy
70 tsptalk
30 uscfanhawaii
50 james48843
25 bronco07
20 boghie
20 travelingman
= 290

And here is my list of maybe's and ifs:
20? Danny
20? RMI
20? Rechargs62
20? SWAVET
6? Sensei
20? BooDog
?? DreamboatAnnie
?? Kona Kathy
?? Birchtree (if his brother returns his silver quarters)

Total not yet confirmed: >106?? That would bring us to around 400!! :D
So if you are on the 'maybe's and if's' list, please confirm or deny amounts.

And if you are not on either list, there is STILL time to join!! Come on in!! It's the  thing to do!!

Holy sell-off, Batman! Silver hit 14.15 in overnight trading tonight. It has bounced back to 14.79, but what a ride the last couple of days

i think we should all double our orders to lower our cost basis. if we hit 1,000 coins maybe we can save the $250 ($0.50 per coin on an order of 500) short order fee! what an opportunity!

Well, that was short-lived. That 14.15 was the low. Now back up to 16.32. What a night for gold and silver!
