we need the rest of the crew to weigh in now.
sorry guys....ok...so don't groan... I just read the whole thing. I thought you all were going to have 10 of 13 for current season and that we were voting on 17 of 23 for next season. My vote is not to change the current method, especially if it creates more work for anyone. Whatever it is now is what it should stay as far as I'm concerned. Not sure it makes any difference at this point. But if it does would UQ come back?????Current voting status:
Raising Games per Next Season onward:
Current: 8
PRO: Eight is not representative of the player's poker skill. Please post to change/add to this argument.
CON: Increasing the number will be detrimental to the club in the long run. If a member can only make one day of the two, they are only able to play 6 or 7 games. They will not be able to compete with those whose stats include 10 games. Our purpose is not to compete with the WSOP. We must first be about fun. If everyone can play 6 games, why not only judge 6 games. It's not really that serious. Please post to change/add to this argument.
userque: 6
att: whatever the majority decides
FS: whatever the majority decides
JPC: 10
burro: 10
winter: 10
k0n: 10
Make Any Change in the Games per Season for the current, almost over season:
Current: No
PRO: 8 in 23 is not representative of the player's poker skill. Please post to change/add to this argument.
CON: The matter was on the table to be changed earlier, but wasn't. Changing the rules of a contest near the end of the contest is not cool and will not inspire trust in the club going forward. It's simply bad business. Please post to change/add to this argument.
Q: No
winter: No
FS: whatever the majority decides
k0n: Yes, 17
JPC: Yes, 17
DBA: Yes, 17
Give Points for Last Place:
CURRENT: No
PRO:
Last place should make more points than someone that doesn't even play. Please post to change/add to this argument.
CON:
Last place should not make more points than someone that doesn't even play. No 'participation points'. Everyone is GUARANTEED at least last place, if you enter. Plus, changing this would change the values for all other places as well. Please post to change/add to this argument.
Q: Yes
k0n: No
FS: whatever the majority decides
Is there anything more to it than scheduling the tournaments?
What are the default settings?
9 players / table?
$500 + $30
Payout? Top what %?
Format: regular?
10 minute blind intervals?
I don't mind doing that, but I guessing there's more to it.
The vote was to change this season to 17 of 23(or another number) or leave as is 8 of 23. The 10 of 13 was for next season.
It was not clear to me that most of our games would be thrown out. This season does not count for prizes so it should not be such a big deal to include all or most of the games. Would like to have seen how we all did with no freebies.

P.S. I just read the nomination, second, etc... if you want to change your minds you definitely can. You won't hurt my feelings. Really!!!!!!! so when do we vote????
There are ways to give additional admin privileges in the club. I'm not sure what that empowered them to do, but maybe it includes creating games.
cue has graciously offered to help with the transition for six weeks. i am not the best person to ask about what to do because i suck at it, and i don't enjoy it.
does anyone second?
what would I have to do, b? would we have to close down the current club when the season is over and start a new one? would Q have to do the honors or will the current club die a natural death when the season is over, since he won't be creating the next tournament season?
well that is just about the craziest dang thing i've seen, twice. normally i would separate out several different issues for reply in single posts, but i am already over 10k and don't need the count, so let's see if can fit 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound sack.
when i resigned as previous manager i did it because i sucked at being a manager, and folks didn't hesitate to express their opinion. i couldn't even schedule games properly at the right times on the right days and had zero control of how stats were figured. fortunately, some smarter and braver folks stepped in and got the organization and statistical solutions up and running, good work cue and kuz.
there is always division when trying to herd cats, some cats will be happy and some cats will be mad, always. this is why i will never run for public office again, especially an unpaid position, no matter how much good you do somebody will always find your effort lacking. this is probably how john boehner felt when he resigned his speakership after he realized the caucus had gone all tea party.
i will not seek nor would i accept any position having to do with the running of this club, mainly because i suck at it. i make a better salesman and idea guy than an engineer or manager. so i hope somebody else will step up and drive this bus, because it is a totally fun bus. it seems cue and cuz pretty much got the logistics and records straightened out so it should be relatively easy for anyone to perform at least basic duties, but there is no way i have the skillset or desire to provide advanced features like replays and wrap ups or finish logs.
i think the discussion about # of games for future seasons is a legitimate one. and although i did not introduce an effort to change current metrics, i did point out how i feel they are misrepresentative. all of these things are valid and good topics to debate and reason through.
i enjoy playing poker with every one of you, so maybe we can find a way to trudge forward. if not, then i'm glad i mostly kicked butt. but it seems a shame to let this level of skill and comradery go so soon. oh well, ashes to ashes and bust to bust.
if the game continues, deal me in.
