TSP Poker Club

congratulations firedog, very well played. there are some learners here and so i don't feel bad about telling them this about you, targets should know how and why they are getting shot.

dog is an omaha player, this means he thinks and plays in four dimensions.

1 he calculates his hand and likelihood of his improving (this is a multi-layered calculation).
2 he calculates, from a range of info, the likely hands in the pot against him and their likelihood of improving, and how it relates to his hand, (this is also a multi-layered calculation). once you have the initial problem solved the turn and river cards math is almost instantaneous.
3 he calculates based on those indications what size bet will offer them the 'wrong' odds to call. they may win, this time, but over the long haul it is a losing proposition.
4 he messes with time! yep, he varies the time he takes to make his moves to confuse and appear as if he is thinking, when he already knows what his move is in a split second, if not before.

if no limit hold-em is common core arithmetic 2+2=4, and algebra is like whoa dude you know cards, then firedog walks in those pots and is doing real-time 4 dimensional calculus like it is tea and crumpets. then he smashes you with his sledgehammer, nicely but deliberately. very dangerous player.

brilliant play. i learned long ago that i did not have the patience for either perfect calculation or perfect play, and i do not use technology or guides. i believe my off the cuff calculations are close enough with 90% confidence and instead i use my grey matter computing resources to 'feel'. that may or may not be a succesfull strategery with this bunch. but it does work in the crowds you will play with for real money in bigger fields, and i am by far a net long winner in the stakes and games and venues i choose when i used to play for real money. this poker club is very informative, there are some very smart and slick folks out there in this crowd.

tonight was basically a firedog clinic. this gets more interesting every game.

We had more than one table tonight? wow, what did I miss out on by coming in late?

BTW, not sure where the 2-20 date came from. If that is what was selected when I first introduced the 'seasons' section, that was just to chop a few games off to show there was a difference between 'season' and 'all time'. There were 3 games before 2/20, so 1/31 would be the real start date i guess
Current season started circa 2-20 according to your sheets.

Ok, thought I read somewhere on one of your prior sheets about not using dates before 2-19 or 2-10 or similar.

If the data is good going back to 1/31...that sounds good to me. :)

I think the tourneys were not registering and the first 3 games were dropped to give new players a fresh start? I recall something like that...

When there are more (or so?) registered (or that can potentially register?) for a tourney than can sit at one table, the room provides additional tables as needed. After the registration cut-off time, the seating/tables may be adjusted/reduced.

As folks are ko'd, the tables are reduced until the last, final table.

So last night, about half of us started at one table, the others started at another table. (You can observe the other tables, I believe.). As players were ko'd, we all merged into one, final table.

Right, I remember us discussing that, not sure what we concluded, for certain.

I believe I printed a copy of the sheet--I might have misread/misunderstood something; and maybe I'll review the thread also, when I get a chance.

I started reading from oldest page forward and stopped at page 49 so you can pick up from there.

The only thing missing is we guessed on a few of the KOs in one game. We knew how many each player got, but not exactly who-knockedout-who for I think 3 or 4 of the KOs. Other than that, everything is good.

Unless someone presents prior evidence indicating something different; or there is a consensus to do something different--I'm good with 1-31. :)

In other news, I submitted a 'support ticket' to PS regarding the missing results.

REMINDER: Poker game tonight, 8pm ET. If we have enough players.

Poker Stars replied to my inquiry about the disappearing stats. They simply emailed me raw, hard copies of the stats.

I inquired again about whether they could restore access to the stats via our clients. They finally explained that our season ended! So the stats started over.

The season start/end dates are hard coded, regardless as to when you actually start your season. Here are the dates. We have quarterly seasons:

Yearly is 1st January to 31st December
Quarterly is 1st Jan to 31st March, etc.
Monthly is 1st January to 31st January.

So our current, synced up season will finally end on the last day in June.

Old Business:

Tom has graciously offered to provide prizes for our tourneys.

We voted down prizes for the first season.

The next season starts July 1, 2016, and lasts until September 30, 2016. I again recommend we accept Tom's offer (assuming it is still on the table :) ), and deem the next season prize enabled.

How say you?

I say aye. and may the best poker players take home some fun stuff. I have no skin in that game, just looking to tilt somebody or other once in awhile. I do a good enough job on myself that way, don't need any extra help. :D
