i am just glad this coming sunday is the last game of our first "early childhood development/teenage rebellious years/feeling out period" season and now everybody has their sea legs underneath them. this is a very tough, smart, competitive, and quick-learning crowd. the level of competition is inspiring.

obviously i have been doing my game a disservice playing 'hank the helpful hardware man' instead of just going 'silverback'. so we shall see how this plays out.

i hope tom tsptalk starts the new club up and schedules games on a rotational basis like we have now without a break in the action, this seems to be working out pretty good this alternating days thing. this club and season reminds me of my childhood, chock full of wonderful surprises but a lot of things i wouldn't mind forgetting.

best 8 of 13 was it? i say keep it continuous and don't skip a week, that is why we go 8/13. also, i would advise all of you to wear an extra tank top and pair of panties underneath because i gonna strip all the chips, again. it's what i was built to do.
 
i have a proposal for you guys in this club, or anybody else for that matter. do you know the concept of 'staking'? it's where you take a share of a player and provide a portion of their stake and share commensurately in their winnings.

there is a casino about 1.5 hours from me with a weekly sunday game that costs $155 buyin full meal deal all but the last sunday of the month which costs $255 so on average that would $180 per week plus $100 per week for fuel and hotel. i'll feed myself. at $280 per week divided by nine "shares" that is $31 per week per share including my own share i will pay for. the total of whatever i win gets split ten ways (i get a free share on the split because time is valuable too).

i know i can go up there and take that tournament down for a consistent profit over the long haul. what do you say? anybody want a piece of this action?
 
don't make me get out the sally struther's picture of a malnourished honduran kid and do the "less than a cup of coffee per day" thing, what do you think i am?
 
I would have to read up on poker staking but my government computer does not like "poker" links so it will have to wait until I get home.
 
let me rephrase...

sometimes the tourney costs $100 plus addons, and sometimes $200 plus addons. i would not play every week, but on any given sunday if you want a share you can buy one or more shares at 1/9th of the buyin, plus a flat rate of $11 per share. $11 times 9 equals about $100 which is way less than accomodations, fuel, and me&i will run. each share pays 1/10th of the cash out. i will by default purchase any unsold shares. 1/9th to get in and 1/10th on the out.

this is a net moneymaker.
 
I see there is already a tournament scheduled for July 4th in the "old" club. I was thinking that was supposed to be the first week of our new season in the new club?

If the season does end at the end of June, I would suggest using the July 4th tourny as a non-official tourny for fun. If not, leave it as part of the old season. I don't want to start the new season on July 4th. Sorry. I would like to pay tribute to our country's 140th birthday by throwing explosives in the air, burning the flesh of dead animals, and drinking fermented beverages, and I don't want to deprive others from doing the same.

So officially the new season will start Sunday July 10.
 
Userque or Burro might have more info, but I believe the re-occuring scheduling is independent of seasons. The stats will stop accumulating to the previous results and create a new accumulation when the quarter ends.

This is why I asked earlier when we were switching. I'd recommend switching now.. that way we have 1, or I guess 2, weeks to make sure the transition goes well.

At the end of the day, we can manually select start and stop dates on the spreadsheet, to determine standings. The only hardcoded piece is the PokerStars' accumulation of stats. Which we can already duplicate ourself with the 'cPoints'

that is correct. any pokerstars club will reset points automatically for a new season each quarter, this one will end the last game in june. we should get the new club up and running before or by then. the kuz spreadsheet is keeping the real stats anyways. it doesn't matter under which club we play, but it may as well be the one we are going to use in the future and also be for a full quarterly 'season' for convenience and to avoid any more 'hold my breath until turn blue take my ball and go home' mishaps.

What is the payout structure? Now of the options seem to be what we are using...

We seem to pay 50%, 30%, 20% to the top 3.
 
Is that points or prizes? I see we paid 2 players "points" on Sunday out of 8, which would be the 20% (actually 16%), but 3 got prize money and that's more than the top 20% but less than winner take all. So it sounds like we play for points, not money (play money of course :)), correct?

The buyin amount may impact how many players get prize money. I think the top 3 players get prize money but only top 20% get points(if you select 20%). Our group is too small for anything different IMO. I'm not able to log in right now so I can only give you my best guess.
