congrats DBA. I forgot all about game night until quarter after start time. oh well, I need to remember to sign up ahead of time. I did for next 2 games, that should help with participation. Although this season is pretty much wasted for me in terms of tourney stats, already missed too many. still it's fun to play the individual games, never know what will happen or who will win on a given night.

so ally brings up something interesting, rawhide. do you folks know what a "cutting horse" is? head em up, cut em out?

it is how you separate a calf from it's momma so you can tag it and cut off it balls if a boy. it is a part of the meat machine, gotta put pounds on, pounds are dollars what pay bills in the end.

the trick to this for the show is the cowboy has to drop his hands and let the horse do the work after cutting one out, no driving after pick the target, he just holds the pommel and lets the horse be a horse, do its job.

but that is not entirely true, sure he don't use the reigns, but driving with knees, there is a subtle communication there between man and beast and other beast. it is a thing of beauty real time live in the dirt. i am not sure the word for it. symbiosis maybe.

that is what i got in store for y'all at poker.

ha! that is a good one ally. funny on a few fronts. you will notice not only does the cowboy drive with his knees, he keeps one hand on the neck, this is how the two really communicate. a very subtle and tender thing. like whispering.

i never believed it until i saw it, but... some folks really do tuck their pants into their boots and wear a silk scarf. now at first i thought "gay" or "are you kidding me?". but it turns out there is a good reason for it. it traps heat up near the neck and head, it keeps wind out of places if need be, and it can be soaked in water for cooling. so even in this day and age there are old cowboys.

as far as getting ahead of the horse? i don't worry too much about that because i don't have a horse, let alone one that bobs and weaves. don't need one. i am the cutter.
