TSLA - Tesla

Same here, I stopped trying to play the short game a long time ago, and started to win a lot more as a result. Learned that it's usually an exercise in futility betting against something that's designed to keep going up :D

I don't want to high jack the Tesla thread too much, but while we're on the subject; when stocks are at all time highs it's easy to convince me that buy and hold is best.

This week's video from Ciovacco Capital is very good. Normally he's all rainbows and lollipops about the market, but this week he mentions the historical risks of a buy and hold strategy, especially those 40+.

That said, I had a rough year in 2020, shorting the indices way too much, and boy does my butt hurt! :D

How many $600 deposits are going into Robinhood on Monday?

Wonder how much went into bitcoin/crypto as it hit $40k. Crypto/Tesla... same thing.

This week we posed the following question related to how traders and investors plan to use their stimulus money: What sector of stocks will you buy with your stimulus check?

58.8% of traders and investors told us they will buy electric vehicle stocks
. Investors most frequently cited Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA), Nio Inc - ADR (NYSE: NIO) and Li Auto Inc (NASDAQ: LI) as the stocks on the top of their wishlists. (Of course, only a fraction of one share of Tesla could be bought with $600 — shares closed last week at $880.02.)

So that's why Musk is also in the space flight business. He needs to pillage other planets for their resources. :D

I know, Elon can do nothing wrong and will someday have his face on the moon. As funny as that joke about SpaceX was, it's probably not far-fetched.

Investment ideas? Certain miners will benefit, especially when laws come into play similar to the Kimberly Process with diamonds. Most of the stuff on that list is dug up by child labor in 3rd world countries.

Time to short tesla again? Stop above 850 - yesterday's high? Above 875 would be even better but of course that's a bigger loss.

Time to short tesla again?

I sold my position earlier this week. Still heavily in the ARK ETFs that hold it, but I don't own it directly anymore. I don't know that I would short it though as the momentum is still up and shorts seem to get crushed in this one pretty often.

Tesla is testing the 50-day EMA, and a descending support line. Could be a bull flag. 750 - 755 area could be a good buy spot for a bounce but if it falls below that, it could get ugly. Possible rounded top forming too.

Looks to have lost the 50DMA. Momentum oscillators all weaker than when this previously happened in November.

The rounded top in all tech seems to be breaking lower.

Yeah, very important to hold. Only a few closes below the 50-EMA in the past year.

I'm with you. It will probably matter, until it doesn't. But it makes for a good headline. :)

Tesla’s share price is now directly tied to the value of bitcoin, analyst says

Daniel Ives, an analyst at Wedbush, said Elon Musk and Tesla are now tied to the bitcoin story.

“Although Tesla made a billion paper profit in its first month owning the digital gold, it comes with added risk, as seen this week,” said Ives.

Musk has been tweeting about the cryptocurrency on and off ever since, raising alarm bells in some corners. He’s also been tweeting about other coins like Ethereum and Doge.

A breakout of sorts on TSLA this morning as it broke its downtrend, but the 50-day EMA was hit like a brick wall so far.

With the pop above the 50-day EMA yesterday, Tesla was showing signs of bottoming. But it may be failing here at the 50-day EMA, in which case it looks more like a bearish flag.

The close matters, but right now TSLA is falling back below the 50-day EMA.
