This and That

Those Boys IS CRAZY!! I used to climb telephone poles when I worked for Ma Bell, but this is just nnuuts. I knew a guy that did that for a living one time, he is no longer with us the tower actually fell with him at the top!

CH, thanks for posting the tower one. The cartoon at the beginning describes my job so perfectly. Too bad it is an engineer site instead of a worker site. Workers are usually too busy to create sites.

Cracks in the insulation, yeah sort of. No insulation on these wires. They are looking for problems and when they get to the towers looking for cracks in the insulators. These guys and gals are actually at a potential of several thousand volts while doing that job. If they were to touch a ground point such as a tower, they would close the circuit. It would inconvenience a lot of people if the owner decided to shut the line down for body recovery. Anyway, these people are crazy IMHO but necessary to keep your iPod working. Not too safe to party with them. For some reason they appear to be fearless.

Nnuut, you were a ma bell person? Do you by chance have any paper copies of BSP around?

What are they doing up there? Checking for cracks in the insulation?

I love the wire riding trolley.
What a view!
Chopper is the access to remote locations.
I know a guy that hunts for these choppers that hit the deck after nicking a blade or such.
He gets them cheap and rebuilds them. All certifiable.

Good points - solid commentary. Never let a liberal run a war.

Dear mr realist-
the options were?

Try the unbiased version, if you dare- but beware of out of sequence frame shots or paste in's of different events!
I like this version. You can see these soldiers are kids just like you were.
I'm sorry you had to wait so long to get respect when you returned home.
