Yeah, OK this is the fix it thread. Nice you tube link but the issue here is not cleaning but worn out components and replacement. This stuff I am working with is just old and cheap. It has been cleaned and given TLC for years. Even the Dog was gentle with it to a point.

If your door was screeching when you opened it that indicates it is contacting the lower channel and the rollers need adjustment or perhaps the upper channel but whatever if you remove it, clean the rollers. Your link doesn't say a word about screen doors. Just saying. Happy repairing/replacing.

I agree..lots of knowledgeable folks here that know some tricks for fixes..

As far as the baking soda and HP....That's great for cleaning car battery tops...But good ole 409 would do just as good.

Right as usual Buster. Dish soap and water works good too. Vacuuming the loose stuff out first helps. I am still looking for a good lubricant for the tracks. I'm trying pledge this time. Problem is whatever you use will get tracked in to the house. I tried WD-40 a few years ago-total disaster. Wasn't thinking things through.

What? Oh, I misread what Tom said, I was trying to say I'd buy an extra few provided he got them at the price he wants, which is under 16. ennnyways. 10 if/when Tom gets the price he's waiting for.

Last Sunday at about 9 am I was returning home from Sonic when I noticed a huge column of black smoke emanating up from my neighborhood about where my house is located...as I got closer I noticed it was coming from the house next door to me (20 feet from me)..it was totally involved in fire..the wood roof was burning like it was doused in gasoline..My house has composition shingles (thank goodness) otherwise my roof would have taken off too...I had a garden hose handy and was able to spray down my roof and keep it cool until the fire dept arrived and took over (10 min.)...My house was saved and only had four broken windows in the back from the heat..During the event I was able to get my cats to the car in carriers and backed both vehicles out of the garage incase the worse happened....I got 1st and 2nd degree burns on my right forearm that was facing the burning roof as I was spraying down my house..It was such a traumatic event I didn't feel like talking about it until now.

As you can see from the pictures, my neighbor's house is totaled....

UPDATE:

The owners settled with their insurance and sold the house as is to a professional Builder who is fixing it up for himself..a Good neighbor he will be..

Good news Buster on the next door house especially that it appears the contractor bought it to live in.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and I hope by now you are all safely home from work. Some of you are dealing with inclement weather.

Here the weather is great, sunny and low 80s. The commute home was not so great. Freeway and street closures all over the place due to accidents. Spin outs, roll overs, t-bones and at least two deaths. You would think it was due to a Noreaster or something. But, no, just people beings dicks and in a hurry to get to wherever.

There is no time to prepare now (you couldn’t pay me enough to leave the house tonight) but I dreamed up a really good sounding t-day meal for singles, older people with no family, curmudgeons or just cheap charlies who want turkey.

Get a couple pounds of ground turkey, a box of prepared stuffing mix and a couple of eggs. If you really want to get fancy, some chopped celery. Mix it all together. Shape it as you wish, loaf or turkey looking. Bake it at 350-375 for a while. Until it is crispy brown on the outside. Allow to cool for a while and slice. Stuffed turkey! Make a side, open a can of cranberry sauce or not.

I have not had a chance to kitchen test this and as lean and dry as ground turkey can be the stuffing mix may require a little hydration. Maybe not, crunchy turkey loaf may be soothing. Eggs are for a binder and may be omitted if you got a thing against chicken embryos.

If anyone does try this please let me know how it turned out.

that sounds really good po, but no thanks, i get most of my calories from beer and popcorn.
 
Nice thought there PO, for those eating on their own for whatever reason. Other options are possible. Some of us curmudgeonly singles still roast a real turkey now and then and have other single friends over to share and rotate the host residence among the group from year to year, makes us feel less curmudgeonly. :)
 
Roasting a real turkey, carving, fighting over who gets what and re-purposing the carcass is a PITA. Everyone loves turkey leftovers and turkey soup/stew but no one wants to do the work.

I wish that that recipe sounded a little more savory, I might have tried it. I like ground turkey, but I never have been a fan of the whole meat smushed in a loaf pan thingy. I'll file it in my recipe box and maaaaaybe when I'm old and curmudgeon I'll give it a try.

I make a killer turkey chili and that's what's on the menu tomorrow, Turkey chili, jalapeño cornbread , cranberry/pear salad with candied walnuts and a vingerette dressing and a slew of other traditional TD dishes and local Hawaiian dishes. Should be a very interesting and delectable feast.

I really can't keep away from the standard baked in the oven turkey with the gravy and all of the trimmings and turkey hash and turkey sandwiches after, do what you want but Turkey brings people together, that's the important thing.:D
 
Oh, I love me some of that traditonal Thanksgiving spread especially the leftovers, but I'm not much of a traditionalist and when I can experience a non traditonal way of celebrating ... I'm in.

In fact, last year this time I was in the Amazon jungle of Peru celebrating Thanksgiving. I had the vegetarian meal while others added the local Amazon River catch of the day....piranha. :D

I can't do Vegetarian, makes me sick! How in the heck can I change my grill and smoker to Vegan? NO WAY! I would rather die!
