Note to the person who just clicked the "report post" button.
Yes, it worked.
Multiple mods all got copied, and we looked.
Thank you for that test---- we now return to our regularly scheduled programming. But first, a word from our sponsor:
Everyone, if you see a post that you feel crosses the very reasonable boundaries of civil discourse as layed out by the owner of this board in the terms of service, you are welcome to report it. If YOU think it "crosses the line", it is worth letting the Mods know, and then we'll discuss it within the boundaries of freedom of speech vs. potential violation of terms of service. Tom has the ultimate vote, but he encourages us to discuss the relative merits of asking the person to please be more considerate, or to edit a specific post and offer a warning, or to recommend other appropriate action.
We mods sometimes don't see questionable posts unless we happen to come across them, unless someone hits that "report post" button. In that case, if someone does, you can be sure we'll be happy to discuss it, and consider all angles.
Mods consist of a diverse group, who all have a great deal of respect for freedom of speech. Sometimes a post isn't all that clear as a violation. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it's borderline. We can't define everything, until someone actually writes something that we all recognize is just plain wrong.
As Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart once said (Jacobella Vs. Ohio, 1964)
"I'll know it when I see it", and when we do see one, it's usually pretty darn clear what the right thing to do is.
Thanks in advance.
