sugarandspice's Account Talk

I was pretty excited with I saw Birch's post on your thread..as I thought you came back

I miss our walks down the pier....

Laying under the blanket on the beach...watching the stars

Blowing bubbles under the weeping willow trees...

Going for drives in the convertible with the top down...

Making Big Foot dance by shooting at his feet...

Talking to each other with invisible walkie talkies in the stores...

Pretending to be FBI Agents that forced an emergency evacuation at the mall...

Pretending to be terrorists - spraying water - while loudly reminding each other breathing it in causes immediate paralysis

But my favorite memory of all is when we went to the Nursing Home

and had everyone doing 'Robotic Dancing for hours and hours' after convincing them it's how to obtain the real fountain of youth....

Hi,

Where have you been - I miss your avid attention to details. Am I being presumptious in assuming you have become a buy and holder? That's great, the real test will come if you can hold your position for the entire year. Looking forward to your next visit - the door is always unlocked.

Here here, my yen misses the yang. Where is Birche's counter-weight to keep things in balance?

Hope all is well... JTH ;)

I'm still around.

I'm glad you are! You should come home more often.

Mostly reading.

Me too; but it's strange because the more I learn the more I see how badly we really do need 'A New Earth'. What I've learned about the Global Economy...practices that are destroying the planet...global warming...species vanishing....it just goes on and on.

It's rare I read something enjoyable - but I'm long overdue for something FUN.

Leastly bleeding.

I wish they could do something to fix the problem. Is there something they can do and you're scared to try??

Partly caring.

Yeal - sometimes being 'numb' is easier

But always sharing.

Well I discovered I have a 'strongly feminine characteristic' yesterday. I was #2 - and just hate that...

Never want to be #2 but never really knew how much it would bother me until I was. Now I'm #5 and that's cool - any other number is fine but somehow I just can't settle for 2. Doesn't that sound like a woman??? I mean why would that bother me...humm:worried:

Well the world's still spinning around - the traffic lights are changing on a fairly regular basis - and on the whole it looks like everything's functioning about the same - but we're way better off when you're around.

Steady or anyone else, how do you know your standing on a daily basis in the tracker?? I see the weekly but can't figure out how you see it daily.:embarrest:

'G Funder' Trustfunders having all the fun!!!

With Mojos Link you can:

Watch all those Trustfunder 'G Funders' roll the rest of us in a dark alley because we have some stock holdings:p

Yuk, yuk...

Its a sad day, week, month, year, decade in the greatest economic engine history when SteadyGain whomps on us because he is in the 'G Fund'. Too funny...

No insult to SteadyGain... This is just way to funny:laugh:

No insult taken at all my friend and I totally agree with you.

If only I had waited for the drop a few days prior and sold the next day - BUT - I'd already used my 2 IFTs..:notrust:

The truth is: This year I was fully convinced I could set the example and prove that maintaining consistent gains is relatively easy during a year like this one. SteadyGain

FIRST - I had to prove we are not in a Bull cycle - but fully in a Recession with things getting worse.
So the plan is easy - stay in G Fund

SECOND - I had to prove that even in the worst of times (several days prior for example) you can go fully in and out the next day with a 5% gain locked in.

My greatest thrill (next to SugarandSpice) was shaking loose from all those who have stayed in G Fund from day one. Now that is totally weird when you're tied with 30 others.

I agree with you my friend - and I felt the exact same way last year with WV-girl. She ended the year with a very good gain compared to the -30% loss (or more) most of the others took. Anyway I really do enjoy your comments because they sound so real - and just airing your thoughts - and that's something I always enjoy.

G Fund may sound like a joke but F Fund could easily lose on any given day and staying in C/S/I is like jamming your money down the sink while listening to the garbage disposal choping it away.

Well Good Night all and a little smooch for S&S

Ok Steady....I'll bite. First -- what did you have to prove and to whom? The examples you cited had already been proven by numerous people on the board. So, I guess you must mean you needed to prove it to yourself? And why didn't you use PoolMan as your example? After all, he was #1 in 2008, not me. I didn't view being on the tracker as competing with the other members of the mb, just as a way to keep track of my returns. But if you notice, your #2 on the overall tracker right now, so your competive spirit must be soaring because you are one ahead of me.
What happens, if one time this year, you call it wrong and lose a few percent? That happened to me several times last year, but I kept trying. I hate to lose as much as the next guy but I am competing against the market not the members of the mb. Stop stirring, Steady, it is unbecoming to your profession and I for one don't like being used in one of your experiments. (smiling as I say this)

WV-girl,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING YOUR FEELINGS KNOWN !!!

When Frozen said something the other day in relation to who am I following ... or who am I trying to side with and pump up ... I told him that I follow No One - and I mean that in the deepest sincerity I AM NOT TRYING TO FOLLOW ANYONE - but rather I am doing my own thing as I have throughout the years.

First -- what did you have to prove and to whom? The examples you cited had already been proven by numerous people on the board. So, I guess you must mean you needed to prove it to yourself?
Debbie, that is the Greatest Truth in relation to my TSP Account and I absolutely PROMISE you I am not competing with ANYONE other than myself. None of the other TSP accounts have anything to do with me - or my retirement. Last year was a very humbeling experience for me. I came on the MB for the first time to openly display my investment tallent. Each of my previous years I had done very well - AND I DON'T SAY THIS TO BRAG - I say this only because I thought it would be fun to openly post my trades and do my thing. I mention you only because you honestly stuck out to me last year - EXACTLY AS I STICK OUT TO BOGHIE - and I thought the exact same thing he is thinking. I 'ARROGANTLY THOUGHT' wow Debbie is staying in safety - hum... I wonder how long it will take to pass her. It's not me COMPETING with YOU - It's the idea that someone staying in safety can surpass the risk takers. This is what Boghie is taking about AND in my personal experience YOU WERE THE BEST EXAMPLE - but I DO NOT MEAN THAT TO INSULT YOU - I mean it to demonstrate how SAFETY CAN BE THE BEST PLAN.

I didn't view being on the tracker as competing with the other members of the mb, just as a way to keep track of my returns.
That is my feeling exactly - how anyone else does has absolutely no bearing on my long term RETIREMENT.

But if you notice, your #2 on the overall tracker right now, so your competive spirit must be soaring because you are one ahead of me.
By this time LAST YEAR - would have been at least -6% - so yes when I go home I feel wonderful that I'm close to 2% NOT BECAUSE I AM AHEAD OF ANYONE ELSE ON THE MB - but because I look at how each FUND has done in comparrison. MY COMPETION IS ONLY WITH G,F,C,S,I - and that's it.

And why didn't you use PoolMan as your example?
Poolman did not stick out to me at all Debbie until the very end. You stuck out because I like you - because I found you attractive and thought you were special - SO I AM NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT YOU TO PICK ON YOU - I just remember thinking the exact same thing that Boghie was expressing: "How in the world can she be up towards the top staying in G".

Only a REAL FRIEND would be willing to step on my toes and let me know when I've crossed the boundry. Only someone who really cared would say: "Rick, you're going to far".

THANK YOU !! I have the highest respect and admiration for you Debbie and I deeply appologize for offending you. It honestly makes NO DIFFERENCE to me where I am on the Auto Tracker - the only thing that matters to me is that I can tell my family I am not making the same mistake I made last year.

Ok VW-ConVertaGirl, I'll bite. :p

Just for the record, I'm number 165 on the tracker. I am competing against the market, but if I happen to smash through everyone else on the MB, than that's just bonus points! Everything I do is more fun if I make it a competition. When I compare my returns on that of the MB, I can gauge how well I am doing against the average Joe. I admit it, I am vein and part of my self-worth is based on comparing myself to others...

None of this makes me a better person, but it does keep me interested in the market. :toung:

I watch the MB to see what the leaders are doing. In this market especially, mirroring or mimicking the leader's account moves make you MONEY!!!!!!!

Funny thing is that's the advise I most often give to the newbies when they are looking for a starting point. Now if I could only follow my own advice!

JTH - Stubborn as a mule and not much smarter

I am not offended, Steady. Believe me, I would have no problem in telling you or anyone else if I were. I was just trying to keep the peace and it did appear that you were headed into the competiveness of member to member. Competition can be healthy, but we are here to help each other make $, not pit one member against another, and I wanted that point to be extremely clear to not only members but to anyone reading these posts. :)

Thank you !!

A job well done - my sweet precious friend. :)

I won't say anything further about my # - it's kind of crazy but #2 just doesn't settle with me and I honestly - in all sincerity saw that as kind of a 'woman thing' - NO OFFENSE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER WOMAN.

Anyway - once in awhile I really do miss SugarandSpice (Luv2read too) so my message wasn't meant to flaunt my position - it was really meant to get in touch with her...;)

You have no idea how badly I needed this - thanks again and have a super fantastic weekend.

SugarandSpice - I realize I'm very new in your life but some of your comments really tug on my heart and I wonder how your doing and so once in awhile I'll just send a little message here and there.

Re: 'G Funder' Trustfunders having all the fun!!!

That's too funny, if the leaders are following the leaders, then who's minding the storehouse?
(Glad you liked my little funny--couldn't resist poking some fun. Laughter is good for the soul)
