Steel_Magnolia's Account Talk

I agree Birch, time to cut and run. Oops...I read now that you really didn't say that. My bad. Maybe a pause here as a correction is well overdue. As the dollar rally's...I would say that is a great excuse to lighten the load here. :)

Birch and Felix, thanks for the visit! I hope you helped yourself to the applesauce cookies on the counter.

And while we all wait to see what the FOMC meeting does to the markets, here's a brain and eye teaser for you. I'd credit this but I got it in an e-mail from family and I don't know where it originated. I'm one of the 55, are you?

I guess I was kind of amazed at how easily I could read it. This was really neat ---- very cool ----- Thanks !! :D

The power we have ---- is so hugely 'untapped'.

I've always been able to read these. Maggie, maybe you should post a poll on this, find out what percent strange minds we have on the board here...maybe we're all strange.:toung:

They teach writing like that on the west coast - it's called ebonics.

Wow that's pretty cool. It must stem from 'Ebony' or 'dark' as opposed to Ivory. If I'm not mistaken it probably reflects the numerous trials that showed the 'darker' the skin -- the more advanced were language skills on a wide variety of levels. In particular when it came to 'written language' not only did they sail through the more scattered spellings -- but were also able to fly through words with various letters exclued.

;)

It took me a second, but I quickly got into it. Reminded me of a speed reading class I attended in middle school. A mechanical curtain was lowered down the page progressively more quickly, training the mind to not focus upon the individual words one at a time.
I have been blessed with a good education.

don't forget to grab an applesauce cookie or two!

Maggie

Well I'll head out on this one.

Thank You!! They were delicious

We are 'blessed' to have you join us.

Big deep breath. Okay, that feels much better....

I went early to the polls and voted today, because standing in line would be a really bad idea. My vote swirled into a black hole because I live in Utah, the home of the One Party State. But at least I tried to make my voice heard. Ya can't complain if ya don't vote! :D

Now I'm going into the kitchen to make sugar cookies with red, white and blue icing.

::: taps finger on temple :::

Hm-m-m-m... What can I use to make the stars ....

Maggie

I lessened my exposure just a little today. I went from a 50/50 allocation to 70/30. At COB today I'll be 70% G, and 10% each in CSI.

I was chatting with Coolhand the other day and mentioned that I had decided a while ago to lighten up when the S&P hit 1195. Then I didn't do that and it has cost me a bit. The charts are telling me it's time to start following the game plan again.

I found out that they sell little white star shaped sprinkles in the grocery store. Who knew?!

So help yourself to a patriotic cookie while you're here.

Maggie

Do you make any cookies that are date filled? They're delicious.
Yes I do, Birch. Not very often because they are really time consuming to make. But just for you I'll do it.

Another thing I thank you for is for not pointing out that I'm being a chicklett by reducing my exposure to stocks. I'm just not as brave as you are!

Maggie

Yesterday and today I've been doing a ton of reading and researching stock market history. And it has led me to a radical move. As of COB on Monday I'll be all in, 40% each in C and S and 20% in I. Why am I making this kind of move? Well ....

Warning! Warning! Aooga! Political Content Ahead! Warning!

... past history shows that, regardless of which party wins, the market goes up after mid-term elections. And that will be especially true this time. Because the market will welcome back the boys who let it go nuts with no regulation for most of the last ten years and almost destroyed the world's economy. So the market will almost certainly rise post-election ....

We now return to our regular programming.

... and November and December are historically good months for the market as well.

And Birch, I made these rolled date filled cookies that you requested. Everyone please help themselves. They're especially good with a glass of ice cold milk from the fridge there. Enjoy!

Maggie

Well, I did it. All in. Birch, I could really use one of your rah-rah speeches right about now. How about grabbing a cookie and telling me I'm okay? :o

Maggie

If you are uncomfortable about your decision then you know it was the right decision. This market is going much higher without public participation - that's classic. Let mom and pop continue to eat bonds until they puke - then trillions will shift to equities. The Fed wants to give the equity market a bubble to increase the wealth effect - I'll certainly feel mine.

Birch, I tried to give you rep points for the pep talk, but I can't again yet. So I'll just tell you thanks and that will have to do. :)

Crossing my fingers about tomorrow.

Maggie

The Fed wants to give the equity market a bubble to increase the wealth effect

I agree 100%..... Basically the FED has been propping up the market to make people feel like spending more. This situation might eventually end like the market crash in 2008 when the FED attempts to remove the devalued dollars that are flowing directly into the market. The QE cannot continue indefinitely without something imploding. I think the market will continue to rise with devalued dollars. S&P 500 at 2,000 next stop or 200 ???? The case may be made for each senario.
