Steadygain's Account Talk

When the Fed raised the discount rate it said to the market a raise in the Fed funds rate is not far behind. The big money managers are just pricing this into the market.

Look for sell-offs right before the closing bell. When that tappers off I believe the Fed will make its move.

The Fed will probably make a few more discount rate hikes before they increase the Fed funds rate - look for the funds increase in the Q1 of 2011.

Was told last night 8 Trillion in cash -- waiting to dive in.

That matches up with what I've been hearing ....

... in the meantime ....zzzzzzz ...zzzzzzzz ...we'll take a nap :cool:

Stocks Set to TUMBLE

I will call this casting pebbles in the pond day

If I miss anyone ~~ I'll come back later. :cheesy:

The Markets are like a Woman :worried:

They have the given right to change their mind

And no one can question that -- not even Tom.

At times like this I wonder if it would be easier to deal with Markets that are up one day and down the next. Ever changing their mind and leaving me wondering -- what will they decide next.

If only I were a woman

oh, steady. you're probably the only one on this message board that can get away with saying that.

good luck brother.

in defense of the fairer sex, i must say the markets are not a good comparison to a woman.

for instance, after a lively dissagreement (and resulting reconciliation) a woman is likely to leave you sleeping soundly, rarely true with the market.

although in both cases, you're often going to get screwed.

Yeah, I'm pretty lucky most know me as long as they have.

This is nothing compared to what I posted on the 'Conservatives Only' Tread. :)

Birch had graciously defined us all  as noted at the end of the link included

Oooh man -- THANK YOU -- I really got a good laugh out of this !!

You're pretty cool :cool::cool:

Steady,

You seem to be treading thin ice. But like he said youre the only ONE who get away with that. #17 Hmmmm:D

Hi Merlin,

Wow ~~ what a pleasant surprize. :)

You'd be amazed my friend ~~ I mean really truely ~~ gosh there have ben a number of times when I wondered if Tom or one of the Mods would give me a warning :worried: and I've even had an occasion when I couldn't 'connect' when I feared I got booted.

Well anyway I can't imagine any woman thinking I'd say something degrading about them -- except for maybe a first time visitor -- and she probably needed a 'little jolt'.

What got me going this morning was thinking of Birch's famous saying from way back -- and to this day I honestly think that's the all time BEST and there is no way anyone could top that. I mean really !! to say that on an open forum with the biggest election ever right around the corner. Ahhhhh man he's something else.

Well thanks for stoppin' by -- the #17 is like the most super wishful thinking I could imagine -- forgot I even said that. A lot of stuff is so off the top .... I'm like what ?? when did I say that ???

It seems like I've only known her for a few months -- but it feels like I've known her for ages....

...it's really amazing how some people can make such a huge impact

....such a deep and lasting impression

.....well anyway -- remember Grandma

Good night all

A Market Overview of C , S, I

2002 -22.05, -18.14, -15.98

2003 +28.54,+42,92, +37.94

2004 +10.80, +18.03, +20.00

2005 +4.96, +10.45, +13.63

2006 +15.79, +15.30, +26.32

Well fortunately there are some excellent books that explain how we were able to achieve the Gains throughout this period and all the more how it appears The FED was able to magically do wonders...

But when you are able to honestly assess what happened you find it was way more a matter of 'Luck' and we barely avoided disaster.

2007 +5.54, +5.49, +11.43

2008 -36.99, -38.32, -42.43

2009 +26.68, +34.85, +30.04

This period marked the most fundamental change in how we came to view the Markets. Here we came to realize for the 'First Time' that The FED had little to 'No Power' to turn things around.

I believe most of us are keenly aware that Manipulation to the highest extent has kept the Markets from crumbling and we are still in a very difficult period.

That's my take on things and I hope the very best for all of us.

Congrats !! to all who Won

Caution seems to rule the ones trying to be careful --and tends to give 'Intellectual Grounding' :embarrest::rolleyes:

Bolding staying IN -- seems to hold such uncertainty on the day to day ... yet often those little rascals outsmart us. :p

Thanks Steady! But staying in after today maybe the sanity check!

You're doing great Frixxx !! and they're holding and GAINING.

The last time I waited for what I felt was a more stable moment with upward momentum (hoping for even a small gain) - the Markets took a huge downward turn the next day and went down 4% or more with successive days. So I'm very apprehensive about repeating this.

In the end the only thing that matters is how much we have in our accounts when all is said and done. So my (our collective MB) retirement is way more important than wherever we are on the AT.

I'm in no hurry -- but from some other posts we may actually be starting the first substantial upward trend in months -- if this plays out then I'll jump in . For now I'll try to slow down and hopefully guage things a little better.

Frixxxx,
I don't know if you've ever considered this but you would make an outstanding Moderator. You're one of the best.

Thanks, but I'm too emotional for it....Cooler heads should prevail....

But thanks Brother!

Let us see where the market goes today.....Flushing out the strength, or positioning for Birch's 17% run in 30 days?

Yeah, it's tough when you're trying so hard to get ahead.

For me :embarrest: the biggest problem is I get so caught up in the ones who have now disappeared --- but I've come to see them as being like the Masterminds and when they're going on and on about the huge and unavoidable DROP  and how 'all things are pointing' :worried:

...then I'm convinced somehow they know -- what I don't and am too inclined to give in to FEAR

Then when I look at my Heroine (female hero) Silverbird -- I've got to hand it to her -- by sticking it out she won the game.

So in the long run -- and through it all -- hopefully I'll have the courage (or smarts) to go in and let it ride. But like Tom said, once you're in that Wall of Fear is very hard to ignore.

At this point I have to believe the others were wrong -- that they can not know with certainty the Markets are going to crash -- and that after a very long 'adjustment stage' the BULL will continue creeping up -- slow but sure.

To me the most important thing is what Birch has stressed regarding the GAINS from 3/09 --- once they pass -- you lost out.

I should be buying my little hoofhearted heart out today - but I'm just resting counting my marbles. I've made 755 individual purchases since June '09 and plan to ramp that up to 1000 before June '10. So the large pile of bull manure I'm sitting in is very comfortable and cozzy. I may actually take out Amoeba on the tracker today. Steady, you can purchase a very nice stylish pair of sticky pants from True Religion for around $340 - it's worth a try.

Thanks Birch,
Few things in life compare to a large pile of bull manure and I remember how joyously I'd shared with Uptrend how it's warmth and comfort was somewhat overwhelming on a cold winter's day.

The comfort and cozziness are characteristics that take on increasing strength when you honestly give in to the B&H mentality and over the next few years I'm bound to get there.

Hmmm that name sounds familiar -- it reminds me of someone who had punned fun at you for being a B&Her -- how he was way ahead of you on the AT -- and somehow -- if I recall correctly -- you wound up way ahead before the year was over....

Well ... True Religion ... here ... is the total abandonment of monetary wealth and possessions and any endeavor that seeks that goal as a true destinity. It is finding the Ultimate Freedom in pure simplicity and living with the Faith and certainty that all your needs will be met - even if only sustaining your true needs of survival. It is way more the Spirit inwardly moving, filling, and guiding. It is overflowing with a Joy and Peace this world can't touch. It is knowing with the greatest certainity that not only can you be made whole -- but that HE alone could have made this wholeness available. Hopefully it is finding He has both made you and designed you to find the 'Perfect Completness' with someone else -- who was equally designed for you.

Thank you Birch -- and it's the perfect gift. Exactly what my heart been telling me for quite awhile -- and what all who 'hold on' are proving more and more.

Well have a great night everyone !!

I think we should have a BEAR Thread
...........................and a BIRCH Thread

as 2 Central Threads in Member's Account Talk so I don't have to bounce around a bunch of different places to see how Nordic, Coolhand, Uptrend, Poolman, and a lot of the others are thinking at a particular time.

That way if someone changes their mind -- it would stand out.

If anyone stays in G Fund -- and has been in G from the first day through -- then we could use one of their names...

Noooo -- don't rush on it -- just think about it.
