End-of-year disbursement schedule for monthly payments and other withdrawals — Monthly payments normally scheduled to be disbursed December 29 through December 31, 2009, will be processed on December 28, along with the payments that are regularly scheduled for that date. For income tax purposes, these payments will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as income for 2009.
Other types of withdrawals made on December 29, 30, and 31 will be reported to the IRS as income for 2010.
Contribution limits for 2010 — For 2010, you may contribute up to $16,500 in tax-deferred money to the TSP. If you are a member of the uniformed services, you may contribute a total of $49,000 in tax-deferred and tax-exempt money. If you will be age 50 or older during 2010, you may also contribute up to $5,500 in additional “catch-up” contributions if you expect to reach the $16,500 limit in 2010.
Opting out of mailed annual statements — Annual TSP participant statements will be posted on the TSP website early next year. If you do not want to receive your annual statement in the mail, let us know through
Account Access or the Account Menu of the ThriftLine. Even if you opt out of receiving a mailed statement, we will still mail you a letter from the Executive Director of the TSP, along with a copy of the January 2010 Thrift Savings Plan Highlights.
Reporting address changes — If you are
actively employed in Federal service or the uniformed services, make sure to
inform your agency or service of your address change so it can report it to the TSP. If you are
no longer employed by the Government,
report your new address directly to the TSP, either by using the
Account Access section of this website or by submitting Form
TSP-9, Change in Address for Separated Participants.
