If your lung growth is not a solid mass you may have an emphysema type bullae which can be removed for better lung function. I wish you the best. Has anyone suggested a bronchcoscopy yet - that can be definitive for determining the lung problem. They can do cell washings and take samples.

No, that us why I am going to Barnse because the U of M is not impressing me at all. I have a sniff test and echo scheduled and MU.

Personal note:

Second opinion today. The situation remains the same, a one inch mass in the right upper lung, but we have options. Lung volume is 36%, but might improve and they like to wait 6 months to give nerve chance to heal or repair itself. I have more tests Tuesday for my lungs. Biopsy will be coming and that will be risky, surgeon said that okay because he will be standing by to put in chest tube if needed........... This new Doc seems more aggressive and optimistic and told us of different ways to do biopsy and new treatment options.

The battle rages on.

Happy to be G fund for now.

Met Dr. Moley yesterday at Barnes Jewish and informed me that I am doing well but the mass in the lung need identified and then we will know more. More clinical trials are going to be available 100mg vs. 300mg Caprelsa and one for Cabo too. Waiting for the call back and hoping my left lung starts working again.

Here is a update on my cancer battle.

My lungs are not good, diaphram is less painful but lung volume is down. Sounds like my only choice is to take the "orphan drug" Vandetanib. Basically the drug is poison, as are all chemotherapies, with side effect as scary and deadly as cancer itself. Vandetanib is on the leading edge of research in this type of drug and the first and ONLY option for people with advanced Medullary Thyroid Cancer. It is not a cure, it is a living experiment to slow the cancer by starving the cancer tumors of blood vessels until a cure can be found.
