Show-me,

I gave up on prayer way back in 1969. But I do believe in the healing potential of excellent medical care. There are many strategies available to combat these problems so take some time to look around for different approaches and cover your bases. An informed patient is a smart patient. I've been in health care too long to take any one physcian's word as gospel - always keep your options open. May you have the best outcome. Now people don't get on my case because I don't believe in prayer - if I were to share some of my experiences with you then you'd probably understand. I believe in science and the potential of academic research to find cures.

Thanks Birch,

Rare cancers get little funding for research and as of now the only treatment option is surgical removal. I've done the research and second opinions.

Go get 'em Mike. Sounds like you following a prudent course, our best to you and your family. We'll keep an eye on the markets for you, I see your SU is up almost 8% from your buy, if you approach cancer like you approach the markets, it looks like nothing but clear sailing.

All that is great news Mike..I didn't know all this was going on..Dang man..Anyways, good luck on the lumpectomy.

Mike, honestly this brings tears to my eyes; especially after just seeing how much better Birch is doing.

I've prayed for you throughout the day - and this evening as my wife and I were coming home from a Bible Study I wondered if you would post something to let us know - and thought how many times I'd keep coming back to check if you didn't.

THANK YOU !!! IN MANY WAYS - FOR THE WONDERFUL NEWS AND FOR LETTING ME GO TO SLEEP WITH A MIND AT EASE AND ALL THE MORE ONE THAT IS FULL OF PRAISE.

I'm thrilled for you and your family (and the MB family)
Rick

Hello TSPTalk friends,

Your thoughts and prayers are wonderful and very much appreciate. We just got back and news is good. PET scan was negative and the spot on my lung is most likely calcification, which for some reason is common in Missouri folks. My cancer team is not taking any chances and I will be going back more regularly to monitor the "spot" via CT.

The not so good news is that I have a lump under my chin that did not show uptake, but concerns my Doctor enough that I will be going into surgery next week to have it removed. The great news is that it is easy to access and will almost be out patient surgery. None the less it will be a surgical procedure and my fifth in this fight.

Please pray that my surgeon and his staff are steady and successful.

My family and I thank you all for the wonderful words and prayers.

Mike

Thats great news about your PET scan, :D I'll continue to keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Good luck on the upcoming surgery and that everythig comes out just fine.

Lets us know how things go. We're all family here. :D

You guys/gals are all the best! You just can not know how much it means to me to have you all thinking about me and praying for me. Thank you so much! And, my family thanks you all too. My poor wife has been a rock on the outside and a wreck on the inside. She collapsed in bed very early last night because she was exhausted. I hope she sleeps in very late this morning to get rested up.

What a woman.

Boy am I glad I did not go to work for them when I had the chance.

Frontier Airlines filed a motion Friday for approval to outsource its heavy maintenance work to El Salvador, resulting in the elimination of 130 Colorado employees — a move that would change the airline’s bargaining agreement with the Teamsters union, according to court documents.
The airline would save $5.6 million a year, which would help Frontier gain “more financial footing” in its efforts to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and offset inflated fuel costs, the document said.

So is LEH going to be bank failure Fridays big boom or is there a smaller fish out there to go bust. Bank failure should start picking up as the loans reset and the economy slows. People that have hung in there will capitulate and walk away. For many it is as much about pride as it is about walking away from their home.

I say walk away and the govt. quite bailing out the banks. There are plenty of small and medium banks that can buy up the mortgages on the cheap. Let them flourish and let the mega banks burn.

I believe BofA will make a deal. The Government is trying to coordinate
(thats a laugh) three prospective companies. But this action by Fould
is sooooooo late, that if a deal is not made by Sunday, many believe
that Lehman will Fold. (pun intended). At that point, the line for help,
which has grown exponentially, will start to wither away as the Gov't
hopes. ;)

The Week Ahead

Last Update: 12-Sep-08 10:24 ET

The coming week is poised to be a busy one, with quarterly earnings reports from several widely held companies, an FOMC rate decision, and potentially market-moving economic releases.

The FOMC policy announcement Tuesday will be the most important event. Fed funds futures suggest the Fed will hold off on raising rates, but a slight chance is priced in that the Fed will cut rates 25 basis points.

Several items are on the Economic Calendar. The industrial production, CPI, housing starts and initial claims reports should garner the most attention.

Financial firms will be in focus next week with earnings reports from Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS). Bellwethers FedEx (FDX), Oracle (ORCL) and Best Buy (BBY) are also confirmed to release their quarterly results. The Earnings Calendar has more information, including consensus estimates.

I've been thinking that and saying that to my wife for months. All the Feds are doing is prolonging the pain and when the bottom does hit, it'll be even harder. Darwinism, let the strong and smart companies survive. These greedy companies/people need to learn a lesson and by bailing them out, they won't learn a thing.

Yep, that is how the "free" market is suppose to work. Not the government bailing out the big fish because they are the big contributers and lobbyist.

Not looking good for the home team on Lehman. All of the players want the same deal JPM got for buying out BSC.

The gov. is between a rock and a hard place because all of the players know they can strong arm the gov. into assuming all of the risk while the players borrow the money from the tax payers on the cheap.

The player are just biding their time before the gov. knuckles under, if they don't they will all sit back and watch LEH implode. And, now the Germans and the EU are commenting that the U.S. gov. had better do something to stop this mess with LEH.

ROFLMAO

We are getting deeper and deeper into a huge black hole as a nation.

I am infuriated that the government is now stealing my money to bailout those who were irresponsible and overly greedy.
Bailouts make me SICK!:sick::sick::sick:

LEH will file Bankruptcy Monday if no deal by tomorrow.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122134089502132567.html?mod=hpp_us_whats_news

Lehman has hired law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP to prepare a potential bankruptcy filing, according to a person familiar with the situation. The New York-based Weil has a leading bankruptcy practice and advised Drexel Burnham Lambert on its 1990 bankruptcy filing.
In a Lehman bankruptcy, the firm's brokerage units would have to enter a Chapter 7 liquidation, in which a court-appointed trustee would take over, liquidate the firm's assets and get Lehman customers back their money. In general, securities that a customer holds at a brokerage firm are legally the investor's property and aren't exposed to the claims of the firm's creditors.
In trying to hold firm to their no-bailout stance even while pressing for a deal, federal officials could try to pit Bank of America and Barclays against each other. But that leverage can work only if both banks stay in the discussions.
Bank of America and Barclays know each other very well, having considered a merger several years ago. More recently, Bank of America agreed to pay $21 billion for ABN Amro Holding NV's LaSalle Bank of Chicago in 2007. That deal came at a time when Barclays was trying to buy ABN and fend off a European consortium bid. Bank of America's purchase was seen at the time as helping that Barclays bid, which ultimately failed.

If LEH does that it is all over and we will see a disaster all around the world. Fold knows this and that is his power it's his only card to play. Barclays and Bank of America are basically the only 2 he has and if one walks which I predict will be BAC then Barclays has to save us all feel secure. Say your prayers !!
