Mike already took care of where the 'collections' should go, just like he took care of his family.

we could all contribute as desired and specify recipient. i think either organization would gladly accept any gift at any time in the near future, it doesn't have to be tomorrow. we could set a cutoff date and then aggregate funds a couple of weeks from now. tom, you have the facilities already established to accept credit card or personal check purchases, would you be the middle man? i'm in.

if we as his friends want to show-mike support at the ceremony on saturday, then we could establish contact with either the funeral home or pastor and i'm sure an email document sent COB tomorrow could be printed and present in an appropriate form with our well-wishes and cares and prayers posted in this thread. if anybody has already made that contact i can make the document and forward it. if not, i could try to facilitate that contact too. i bet the florist could do so as well, but maybe the money for flowers would be better spent on his music or sports intentions.

get ahold of all your tsptalk contacts and post it here by tomorrow. we could send him one heck of a thank you card. he is loved and appreciated by many. let's help walk him home, friends.

His recent posts always reminded me to put my best foot forward regardless of circumstance. So much sage wisdom we can learn from our peers, older or younger. Never easy, but always the best thing to do. Many things he "showed us".

there are two links for donations, is one for flowers and one for memorial donations or are they the same? Mikes obituary listed his son's music events and ball games as his interests, and there are two memorial suggestions: highland high school jazz band and durham community ball association. if the money is for donations then we could split the total between them after a few days when everybody has had a chance to contribute.

Grandma got me contact information so a printout of this thread with our comments will be emailed and printed out by the funeral home to be included as a kind of 'ecard'. i was going to put that together and send it at 5:00 mountain time today. of the money is for flowers then we could have them put this by the arrangement when it is delivered or if the florist has email then we could do it that way too.

let me know if we should be doing this differently or coordinate our activities.

To me giving $75 each to the baseball / jazz thing seems tacky, but I don't have a clue. I like your plan of sending the posts and making the donations next week when we get all the paypal donations.
