Rod's Account Talk

I feel so dumb at this!! I want to take a risk, but not with 100% of anything. The C and I Funds have been doing pretty well lately. I'm keeping 70% in the G for a safety net and moving 10% respectively to C and I and 5%to F and S. I'll keep tabs on it and move it around again if need be.
I'd like to retire with $50K to get new siding on the house and a new glass-topped dining room set. Perhaps a new kitchen set. And still have enough to buy a little hybrid which doesn't cost much to run.

We all have our bad and good days. I've just had more bad this year than last. I lay the blame on not having the time to be plugged into the markets with being on the road so much with TDYs and all. I realize it's really no excuse, but it sure helps when you can keep tabs on things in the same time zone. This is going to be one of my worst years by far if I can't pull things together in the 4Q like I did in 2005.

Some folks are really doing great on this board, so you may want to watch closely to what they are doing. I, for one, do not like copying other people's moves. I like to try and figure stuff out on my own then base my moves from that.

I like a challenge, and I've definitely dug myself into one.

It'll be an interesting 2006.

Go ahead and remove me from the tracker... for now.

I have to take a temporary vacation.

During the next 10 months I will be limiting my time on the net due to studying for promotions testing. It's a biggie for my career. I need to make it in order to retire @ 20 as an E7.

My Wife & I will also be traveling to China to adopt our daughter, and I will be deploying for about 5 months.

I'll probably be away for nearly a year, but will return as long as TSPTalk is here.

God Bless & I'll see you guys in the near future!:)

Hello Guys & Gals!:)

I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I was thinking of them... especially those "bulls" who have been raking in the dough these past few months. A hearty congrats from me to you! As for myself, I'm still sitting in (G) 100%. I'm keeping Tom informed of my moves. So if I make a move, you should know about it in due time. I'm still keeping very busy studying for promotion, and my Wife & I should be traveling to China around Feb or Mar to bring our daughter home. While I'm at it, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving & a Blessed Christmas. I will keep in touch until I am able to once again contribute fully on TSPTalk. Until then, take care & God Bless!

I'm happy for everyone who had a great year with their TSP. I, for one, was not as fortunate due to one bad move in July where I sold my losses from the summer drop and simply a lack of time to devote to trading and my participation on the forum. To sum up my trading year, In May, I was sitting @ 4.48% for the year. When I began to see the (I) fund sell-off, I had thought it was an opportune time to buy-in. But, I happen to buy in while it was on a downward spiral. I continued to ride it down in hopes of riding it back up, but I got "spooked" and could no longer take the pain of seeing my account dwindle away. I ran for shelter to (G) in July and have been hunkered down ever since, thinking that if I were to attempt to ride the bull, it would immediately buck me off. Because that's how it goes, right? When you finally decide to throw in the towel, that's when the market plunges. Well, if I would had simply stayed put @ 100 (I) I would had definitely gained back all of my losses and then a whole lot more! Yeah, it's frustrating. But there's always 2007, right?:)

Anyways, my official 2006 return is:

-3.27%

I guess that's better than where I was in June @ (-6.52).
If anything went right for me in 2006, I've minimized my summer loss. But the one lesson I learned is "patience".

I've attached my tracker.

God Bless & Here's hoping we all have a prosperous 2007!:)

HAPPY NEW YEAR~~~

100 (I) Effective COB today

God Bless:)

I was getting a bit nervous again, but I'm holding long. I'm not about to make the same mistake of selling losses like I did in July unless I have a heckuva good reason to do so.

Patience

God Bless:)

Still holding 100 (I). I like what I'm seeing so far today. But as we know, that can change on a dime. Here's hoping it will soon break through its 2006 74.33 high set on 14 Dec.

God Bless:)

Ummm... maybe I should consider moving OUT of (I) since there seems to be a lot folks moving IN!:p

:D

Getting really close to that 2006 high of 74.33...

No need to get greedy. I've had a nice little run. But, with the Nikkei at a 9 month high and the (I) share price also at a high, I'm ringing the register. I'll wait for that eventual share price to drop lower before buying back in.

SELL HIGH... BUY LOWer!

Effective COB: 100 (I)

It's been nice missing the little sell-off in (I). Now I'm back in.

Sold high... buying lower!

God Bless:)

(I) Fund share price high is 22.53. (24 Jan)

We are now at 22.51.

Thinking of taking profits tomorrow.

-The Nik 300 is at a 347.59 high.

-The Nik 225 is 43.86 away from its Apr 2006 high.

-IMO, the price of the (I) share will have topped after today.

Time not to get greedy and time to take profits!

SELL HIGH... BUY LOW!
