Suddenly it’s RMD time for me. Yeah shoulda started converting some of TSP to Roth years ago but…

The TSP site tells me they will automatically send the first year’s RMD on 31 Mar 26. Not good for the 2026 tax year so I will withdraw at least that amount in November or December.

Just a heads up for anyone who turned 73 this year.

Fortunately IRMAA will not come in to play for income or Medicare. Won’t increase the tax on SS. But the MRA only get’s higher in future years.

2025 MRA is all ready cast in stone. 2026 will be based on the balance 31 Dec 2025.

Think I should start converting some of the money to a Roth? MRA will have to be paid first in any case. Converting to Roth should decrease the EOY balance. Taxes have to be paid in any case.

Hopefully my financial advisor is taking care of it. Although I'm not in TSP anymore. Moved everything into my personal account late last year.
How you been doing?

Fuzzy math here, but I think my dad is getting close to his first RMD, and due to both his birthday and where it falls, I think he may have to do 2 RMDs his first year?
