RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

post-911 GI bill pays you to go to school, covered 100% of my tuition costs, and also the BAH rate in hawaii, came out to an extra 2400 a month which is more than i made working as an intern lol. cha ching!

so yes pursuing a college degree pays, especially if you're a veteran. in all seriousness though i'm glad i use my degree, especially since i enjoyed my major (computer science). even sweeter that i had no debt and threw all the extra money into investments, which wouldn't have been possible if i didn't do any time in the military.

anyway, some of those ppl in the video might have realized that working in the bar scene was better money than climbing the ladder in their career. either that or was a sub-3.0 student. Though you can make a lot of cash in the bar scene, one of my friends is a bartender and he makes some really good money. you'd be surprised what kinda tips you get serving a bunch of drunks if you're decent with people. I know another girl who was a stripper / gogo dancer who took a pay cut by becoming an RN.

Great video. I'm going to show that to my kids (12 and 14 years old) for motivation in selecting a major.

Scratch that. Probably not a good idea. Especially for my son.

I don't think you can include student loans in a bankruptcy. You're stuck with them til you die.

Probably a good point, then I wonder why they haven't garnished his pay (maybe he is working under the table - pun intended). Although filing bankruptcy can get rid of his other debt so he can start paying on his student loans, right ;)

May not be a bad idea anyway because what major you pick can have long term consequences...

I kid my wife, with her history major, "would you like an apple pie with that combo?" But then she got her teaching cert, so she is happy :D

RMI ... I've been doing some reading on J-Trader's web page and have seen some comments posted by you. I'm curious if you've had experience trading based on his signals. I can see how it would be difficult to implement within the rules of TSP, but it could be applied to ETFs ... although he appears to trade on margin or use only settled funds because some signals last only a day.

Most brokers allow immediate use of funds (no settlement => margin) if you maintain a balance of $25k or more, so I think that is how he does it.

You can't use his signals for TSP, but definitely ETFs... Just look at his track record and research it. I am glad he puts the information out there for free. One of my accounts I am using with his signals, but only 100% signals.

Good luck

Once the market stabilizes above the 14,000 level, we may see some Japan like days of +416 points - momentum like that will take us to 15,000 in a heart beat.

Still, not a lot of time to discuss because life, like the markets, has gotten away from me.

As usual, Only Time Will Tell what the markets have in store for us.

Good Luck and God Bless!!
