Quick Introduction

Welcome TSP-roulette! Or maybe you should be welcoming me! I was one of the very few who SWITCHED to FERS from CSRS back in '87, believe it or not. Let me tell you that there were not many of us. But being only 5 yrs in, I had no idea whether I would stay in Fed employ. But almost 30 yrs later I am still here! And the matching TSP funds have certainly added up!
And as HB said, I hope you join the tracker....it's way fun!

From one disabled vet to another, welcome and a heartfelt thank you for your service! I feel your pain regarding the VA, I'm in the middle of an appeal myself. Good luck and God bless!!!

And just before I leave for a VA appointment I wonder BIrchtree; how did you get the roulette and the Deer Hunter nailed just right. I guess you being a Vet can relate rather quickly to Vets way of thinking? Anyway, Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome replies; I will need to LURK for a little a bit longer before I can join in the discussions. This retirement business it's just great, but dealing with OPM and pension payments can be very frustrating. I am also having this little battle with the VA claims process Anyway, Thanks again.

thanks for joining us again TSP-Roulette!! April 2004? One of the first members... cool!

Its good to hear from you and have done very well with your account. Hope you join the tracker. There are lots of us vets on the board.

Birchtree: it takes guts also... no pain no gain...
I am 100% S :)
Yes you and me and 125 others are 100% S fund. Looking for some green now.

Welcome my friend in arms - the roulette probably comes from "The Deer Hunter". You now have something that should help you leverage your account - and that something is a nice balance. It does take money to make money and this bull market can serve you well.

Hi - nice handle.

Had I thought of using "roulette" it would have been Russian-roulette b/c sometimes its like the market has a gun to my head! :worried:

Why hello TSP-roulette, I remember you. It seems to me you did pretty good with your TSP, that's not chicken feed. I'm retired myself now and loving it, GOOD STUFF! I haven't withdrawn any of my TSP to date still trying to build, I know I will need it later. Hope you are feeling well, hang around we have fun around here.:D
Best of luck.

Well-known member
Well, hello to all and sincerely best wishes to all with everything that is important to make us better individuals. I have been a TSPtalk member since perhaps 2004-05; I have posted very little, my job was in the outdoor setting with no access to internet, had to be in the field before 10:00 am Mountain Time, in other words, just had time to quickly lurk and make IFT's by shadowing Tom's moves as well as other members back in the day when there were no premium services. I did join Ebbs's premium service for a few months but had to bail out due to financial issues. After 28 years in the Govt (FERS) I decided to retire; life just got a bit too overwhelming for me. I am a combat Vietnam Vet with a nasty PTSD condition, and my service connected physical injuries finally caught up with quality of life in general. I was fortunate to bail out with 350K in my TSP account, I know I should have been wiser and perhaps should have more but I was a late bloomer and rather ignorant regarding the stock market. I am grateful to Tom and this web site, without you guys I would probably have much less in my account. I had no strategy; as I mentioned I just shadowed Tom's and other member's moves and fortunately I did make some nice gains. So thank you all for the time it takes you to post your opinions, suggestions, videos, charts etc etc. Now I just need to take care of myself and continue therapy for mentioned personal issues. Now I have more time to lurk and read all comments and learn. To all the new young Civil Sevice employees with 15-20 or more years before you retire I am glad you have started working on your TSP account, you will be so much better off when your retirement day approaches. Thanks Tom, and best regards to all you Vets young and old. God Bless.
