Yes, contributions are factored in by TSP. I use an spreadsheet that tracks my investment returns, and my total returns including my TSP contributions so I can see the difference.

That's what I thought. To keep the math simple, is it fair to say if you invest 10% of your salary each paycheck and the govt matches 5%, you can subtract 15% from your PIP to get a better (ballpark) idea of your return rate?

And this amidst all the doom & gloom and articles about the stock market no longer being a smart place to put your money. I try to convince friends about the wisdom of investing and returns from the market and they just don't want to hear it...
