The part about this thing being a decade long event was scary. Although, at this pace, the stock market might not be around in a couple of years.:D

I do feel sorry for the elderly, especially the ones on social security and money tied up in the market. Going from 14,000 to 8,000 in approx 1 year has many of my customer's on edge. Almost 10 year's worth of savings has been shaved off their retirement account's. I know my Mother is sweating her butt off along with other's. I don't see new Highs for year's to come at this point in time. :blink:

I agree. Have you seen the Charles Shwab commercials where the guy tries to convince people to leave their retirement accounts alone? That is sad. Retired folks might not have the time to make it up.

I have seen it, and it makes me sad once again. I have customer's in their 70's that never bitched before at small thing's that will bitch behind your back at the smallest thing's they can.

Personally business is down from year to year. Boss is just hoping to get 1 20+ K job before we close up shop Dec 8.

We are still in the midst of closing pools. 290 closed thus far.

I agree with both of ya. It was funny, sad and had some cold hard truth to it. I also really worry about the folks that are already retired and they are just watching their saving evaporate. Somebody does need to pay for this mess and it shouldn't stop with just the bankers. Merrile Lynch is telling my dad to let his account ride and me and my brother are telling him to at least pull it out and put it in a CD. It won't beat inflation, but then it sure the heck beats losing $45K monthly.

You wonder where Charlie was when the going was a good idea. Oh, now Charlie says, leave your money in, sure if you pull out now you'll have lost a bundle permanently. But where were you earlier, Charlie, with your sage advice? Now you say, oh, yes, Lucy pulled the football again, but we have to keep trying cause we're already commited to the runup.

I just cashed some CDs to raise cash to buy more stocks. I keep my oceanic account at Merrill and am now on my 7th broker - they know better than to pester me. My most recent broker told me the other day that I own so many things he's never heard of - what does that tell you - he's an order taker. One younger guy back in 2007 asked me how I pick some of my stocks - I simply told him that sometimes I just pull them out of my ass.

Hey Birch,

I envy you being fortunate to purchase in the quantity that you can, especially with these bargain basement prices. I wished I had started sooner than I did, though if I don't get screwed out of my TSP or ROTH's, with some wacked out tax idea to punish the successful, We'll be fine, but I have instilled that saving characteristic in my daughter and she is purchasing all the shares she can purchase. She fully understands that starting when she did ( age 20), she'll be so much better off in the future with a much bigger nest egg and she realizes that the government more than likely, won't be there to help her.

So that's where you get some of those ticker symbols. :laugh:
