Poolman's Account Talk

Weren't you going to split up the videos between posts a little more? Some are still having page loading problems in your thread. Thanks!

I'm actually sitting at the computer doing research right now to see if I can change number # of posts per page. That is going to be the answer to the current problem.

The problem being when anyone goes to my thread it is loading all the youtube movies per page. I don't have the answer yet but it may be on the user's side to change how many post's load per page on there end. I don't know.

The answer is not going to be splitting how many movies go on one post. For instance it will be no faster if I want to post 9 movies and do three movies per post which would mean I make three posts.

The whole page is loading. Anyone have any ideas to help us out let me know. I think I am getting close to the answer though.

Sorry Tom, I didn't forget.

When the forum switched over to the new Youtube link feature, your pages started loading dead-slow. It's horrible on my end, I haven't been spending much time in here as a result of the change. I load 20 post per page, and I like it that way, it makes it easier to keep up with the active topics.

If you are still having problems this will solve it

At the top right hit Quick Links
Then hit edit options
Then under Thread Display Options
you will see Number of Posts to show per page.
Change from the Default to 5 or 10
Then Hit Save changes at the Bottom.

This will make my page that has lot's of videos load much quicker.

Another Option would be for Tom to change the Default to somthing less.

:)

Thanks!

Sorry I just read my Thread and saw that you did this and it helped. Cool

Cool!

The default is 12. I know many forums use 40 so I think 12 is OK. Sounds like Nnuut went with the max. :)

Thanks!!

Yes, That's true Tom about Nnuut. With the Default being 12 (Which is Great) is the reason we don't have that many complaints. I guess individual member's make this change thinking more is merrier but not in this case.

I'm glad it fixed. Sorry I didn't get to this last night. I got a Emergency Hot Water Heater Call at 10:25pm
I tried to explain to the lady shut the Breaker off to the Hot water heater and shut the main water supply off to the house and I would get to it first thing this morning. She didn't want to here that so Off I went to a 24 Hour home depot to get a hot water heater and the rest of the story is probably obvious.

Anyway I drove close to 100 miles last night and got home at 3:45 this morning.

Not a emergency labor Hot water heater Labor = $225.00
Emergency " " Labor = $450.00

Wallet was Fat this morning.:cool:

I have switched it over to 10, then went to page 3. The results are mostly the same, there's just too many videos loading, and it's not something you've done, it's the change in the forum from a while back. I'm not sweating it I don't have much time to look at videos, but I do like to scroll through here to glean something new. This is a great place for folks to learn how to learn. :)

I remember when this change took place. I'm used to it now but when it was first implemented I really didn't like but didn't say anything.

The first change I noticed was all the YouTube videos on the page where substantially bigger. Another change that I didn't like was after loading my videos on my thread I could not preview Post. What I'm saying here is, If your pasting videos that you are going to Submit you could not preview to see if you where pasting a vid twice by accident which I have done on occasion. You still can not Preview if you are posting videos.

IMO, Tomorrow is going to be a very good day so far. Three Bell Whether stock's posted earning's after the Bell and all three posted awesome number's.

I predict a Triple Digit Gain tomorrow in the DJIA. :)

Poolman - I still think you should start a blog for your videos. In a blog post...only the videos for THAY DAY will have to load. Then members can post comments after your initial post.

The next day will be a whole new blog post with ONLY the videos for that day. All the other videos from days past won't have to load at all.

That way me and nnuut can run our "posts per page" back up to 40 and JTH won't have to load last weeks videos.

The problem is a Blog comes with another set of parameters that I have to deal with. I am in my busiest part of my business right now and do not want to deal with a blog.

There is another way that I can deal with this by changing one option on my side and that is the

"Default Thread Age Cut Off" option = Threads older than the day I specify will not be shown. I can make this one day or two day's or whatever number I want. I didn't really want to use this option because the vids I post a user can never go back to.

You guy's make the decision. I'm just a busy guy over here that tries to post vids I like.

I may be wrong but I think that setting will only affect the way the MB displays for you. If I don't have that setting enabled then I will see everything.

Maybe somebody can confirm that...

Could be kevin,

See is somone can confirm or I will test this weekend although I really think things are fine the way they are now.

Tom has the default for post's per page set to 12.

There is no reason for someone to need to see more than 20 post per page without one click and then that one click loads so much faster.

It's fine the way it is.....

I like the blog idea. Give the blog the title of your choice (perhaps the mood of the markets that day) then post the vids. It's pretty easy. It might also be a better way for some of the newer folks to post questions about a particular video. But hey, I'm game for whatever, I have just 1 pool and it keeps me pretty darn busy!
