Having taken the fork in the road, I am now beginning the process for my 30 Sept retirement. I am just starting the online application using OPM’s (apparently new?) Retirement Portal
https://retire.opm.gov/portal.
Seems relatively straightforward, but was wondering…..
Has anyone here had any experience with this online application tool?

Welcome to TSPTalk. Congratulations on your retirement. I've been retired for a while. Hope the online process is easier.

I’ve only heard they were working on something. You must be among the first here to run into that. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. An after-action report on filing would be good!

Welcome, Builder2! I may take the journey with you as it time for me to start collecting my FERS pension. I just sent for my SF 50 since it's been years since I resigned from the gov and we need that to get started.

Good luck, and keep us posted. I will post what I find as well.

I also took DRP and am set to retire on 9/30/. I completed my Retire.OPM application 27 days ago and it says mine is still under HR Review (unassigned on their system). It took a few days to go to "HR Review".
I also sent my agency assigned retirement specialist an email around that time and have not heard back from them. I assume you got the automated email that asked us to be patient and they would get us all retired and paid timely, that came out a week or so ago.
Good luck! See the steps below.

What's next

Your application has been certified.

HR will review and certify your application

Payroll will review and certify your application.

OPM Intake: Setting you up in the system, including interim payments.
OPM will set you up in their system and begin interim payments during this phase. Learn more.

OPM Processing: Reviewing and calculating your benefits.
During this phase, you will continue to receive interim payments. Interim pay is a portion of your estimated annuity payment (approximately 60–80% of your finalized net payment for most people). The only deduction taken from interim payments is for federal tax. Learn more.
Retirement Finalized: Deposit of your first regular monthly payment.
The payment date for your annuity is always the first business day of the month and the payment is for the prior month. OPM will issue an adjustment payment to make up the difference between your interim and finalized annuity amount. Learn more.

Thanks Jack, that’s helpful. I haven’t submitted yet, but have already been in ongoing email correspondence with my assigned HR specialist. I have a couple forms to complete and upload, but I should submit later today.
Let us know when your application moves forward. 27 days seems excessive, but I know there are LOTS of us retiring at the end of next month.
