Study: Ethanol hurts the ozone
Ethanol has become the new contentious issue in scientific circles. It’s like Linux versus Windows or IE versus Firefox or GSM versus CDMA. Proponents see ethanol saving the world by using renewable resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Opponents find as much to dislike, including rampant water and natural gas use to refine the stuff from food stuffs. (Read Jon Birger’s great review of the dot-corn boom here.)

So like, should we pay American farmers to produce more corn for ethanol or continue sending more money overseas for Middle Eastern oil?... Even if I have to pay a buck more for my corn flakes, I vote for the American farmers!

Oil slips as supply fears ease
Restarted pipeline drives prices down, but renewed concern over Iran's nuclear program lends upward pressure.

April 19 2007: 2:03 PM EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Oil prices dipped on Thursday as rising refinery production and a key pipeline restart eased worries of a U.S. fuel supply crunch this summer driving season.
Losses were limited, however, by new concerns over Iran's nuclear ambitions, after a document from the United Nations nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday that the key oil producer had begun making nuclear fuel underground.

Nnuut... Was on a ship in Charleston in the 70's, and have been to the Naval Weapons Station several times in the past few years to upgrade a system there.

I think the oil companies and the folks that make ethanol should have a price war like the gas companies did years ago. Maybe that would bring the price of both down. As it is, everything that eats corn is going up too!!! Great for the farmers, but bad for everyone else!

Lots of Skeeters in South Carolina!!
Your right about the corn! The Government is just a bunch of nincompoops!:o
