Oil Slick Stuff

Running around with the wife today doing some shopping and gas is up to $1.99. That sucks. Going to hurt those that aren't getting paid and still have to go to work.

I think Government workers will be just fine. Hell I only get paid one time a Month now that i'm retired.

True, but you are budgeted for once a month and probably don't drive as much now that you are retired.

Exactly.

This is really obvious stuff, but it probably needs to be said here:

A paycheck based upon two weeks--to an active employee is not the same as a retirement check based upon one month--to a retiree.
Some Federal employees make less than others.
Some Federal employees haven't been on the job for very long.
Some Federal employees have a higher cost of living than others.

As a result of the above points, some Federal employees don't have half a years' salary saved up.

I can empathize with them because I realize I don't have to make it about me and what I've been able to accomplish.

Seems you can too. Bravo!

Gas went from $2.19 yesterday to $2.45 this morning. Now our new Governor wants to raise Ohio gas tax another 18 cents a gallon. If it passes we will be paying 46 cents a gallon just in tax.

You are paying .16 cents a gallon less that us in your next door state of Michigan already.

The good thing is- in Ohio you have decent roads. We're a pothole on every street. At least you have superior road conditions on most of your roads.

We pay a total of 60.8 cents a gallon in Michigan, PLUS a 6% sales tax. You are getting a deal in Ohio. Even with another .18 cents in Ohio, you are paying a lot less than many states. Pennsylvania and California both have tax rates of over .75 a gallon.
