Gas wars where I am today. Most stations hanging around $3.69 to $3.79 in my area, but Flint Michigan is having a gas war. A dozen stations now down to $3.17 or less on Corunna Road, Flint. Time for a road trip!

Oil production capacity is surging in the United States and several other countries at such a fast pace that global oil output capacity is likely to grow by nearly 20 percent by 2020, which could prompt a plunge or even a collapse in oil prices, according to a new study by a researcher at the Harvard Kennedy School.
The findings by Leonardo Maugeri, a former oil industry executive who is now a fellow in the Geopolitics of Energy Project in the Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, are based on an original field-by-field analysis of the world’s major oil formations and exploration projects."

Delta Airlines buys closed East Coast refinery, so that it can refine it's own jet fuel.

[h=2]Delta Finalizes Trainer Refinery Purchase.[/h]The AP (6/23, Walters) reported, "A Delta Air Lines subsidiary closed Friday on a deal to purchase a suburban Philadelphia oil refinery and plans to resume fuel production in the fall, a move the airline hopes can cut its jet fuel bill by $300 million a year." The $180 million Trainer refinery purchase was concluded, ending a process begun in April when Delta first announced its plans to purchase the idle refinery. Monroe Energy LLC, Delta's subsidiary, will run the refinery when it restarts, which is expected to happen in April.
According to the Philadelphia (PA) Inquirer (6/23, Maykuth, 347K), "A Delta spokesman said that its subsidiary, Monroe Energy L.L.C., will start a turnaround at the Delaware County refinery after the July 4 holiday with the aim of resuming fuel production this fall." Delta's $180 million purchase of the facility was supplemented with another $30 million from Gov. Tom Corbett (R-PA) "on the condition that Monroe maintain 400 employees for five years."
