US House Republicans Move To Expand Oil Drilling

WASHINGTON - House Republicans are pushing a plan to allow oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and several other areas currently considered off-limits to energy production, stapling the measures to a massive transportation bill expected to move through the House.
The House Natural Resources Committee Wednesday passed a trio of bills directing the government to allow drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans--where leases aren't currently offered--and open up a chunk of the Arctic refuge to drilling. The bills also pave the way for oil-shale development in western states.
The bills will be attached to a measure endorsed by House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) that authorizes $260 billion over five years to fund federal highway and transit programs. Republicans say the revenue from expanded oil production will help pay for the transportation projects. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=114799&hmpn=1

I don't think you have any problem there. Seems to me that we are just going to have to live with it until we get some kind of policy change out of DC.

Yup, I have already moved my budget to $4/gal and will probably move it to $5/gal in June or July so that I can prepare for the inevitable...

Oil falls on dollar, lingering demand worries

Natural gas adds to gains after inventories report

By Claudia Assis and Sara Sjolin, MarketWatch
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Oil futures on Thursday extended losses into a fifth session, as investors remained concerned about a higher-than-expected increase in U.S. crude inventories and lower demand trends, and as the dollar rose.
Crude oil for March delivery fell 61 cents, or 0.6%, to $96.97 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. A close around these levels would be oil’s lowest in six weeks.

I just can't figure it out. Oil down today, supply is good and yet some gas staions went from $3.39/gal this morning to $3.55/gal this afternoon. Do they know something we don't??????

There's a delay for the honest stations, the others change their prices daily based on the daily prices, so they get more money from the Gas that they bought at the lower price.

Yeah, they're very quick to raise the price, but very slow to lower it. Go figure.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — The dollar turned up against the euro and gained versus other major currencies on Friday after the U.S. government said the economy added far more jobs last month than economists anticipated.
The ICE dollar index, which measures the performance of the greenback against a basket of six currencies, rose to 79.271, from 79.010 in late North American trade Thursday.
