nasa1974's Account Talk

A mixed bag yesterday with the "C" & "I" funds staying green.

So just an FIY. I'm no longer in TSP, transferred everything to my Edward Jones account. But I wanted to keep an eye on what is going on. So, I set up my TSP spreadsheet at 20% across the board just to see how the funds play out over the year.
Good luck everyone and make some money.
nasa1974... Your spreadsheet works great and I appreciate using it very much! Thanks for sharing it.

Ouch. Not a very good week Filled the gap yesterday and then proceeded to drive down through it today.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend. Hopefully next week is better for stocks.

Finacial advisor called this morning. Wants to make some more changes. I have to be careful because I have to start taking my 401K money since I'm turning 73. Good luck all.
I'm starting RMD's in 2026. Seems pretty straightforward so far. My understanding is that TSP (I'm still in TSP) gives me a lump sum figure early in 2026 (Jan-Mar) that needs to be withdrawn before the end of 2026 (for me that is).
Considering rolling over to an IRA so I can have more investment options.
Best of luck! :)

I rolled my TSP over to my Edward Jones account in December. More options and only one monthly withdrawal vs. two. Before you transfer your TSP to your IRA you have to set up the transaction account at least 7 days before you start the transfer. Also, TSP sent a check to me not my financial institution. That made me nervous.

Hmm... I've not Xfer'd any of my TSP to my IRA in over a year so I don't recall for sure; though I thought you could do so Directly by going through the the setting up of Xfer-account so you'd bypass them sending your withdrawal to you (your bank acct.)(??)... if you cannot do it direct - for some reason - then I recall you must Xfer the amount you want to go to your IRA directly yourself WITHIN about 30-days if I recall correctly. I'm sure you are on top of it.

I wasn't sure so I asked Grok and it said you have 60 days to roll it over.

To avoid taxes on a TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) withdrawal, you must transfer or roll over the funds to an IRA or another eligible retirement plan within 60 days from the date you receive the distribution. This is known as a direct rollover or trustee-to-trustee transfer. If you miss the 60-day window, the withdrawal may be treated as taxable income, and you could face additional penalties if you're under 59½.
