nasa1974's Account Talk

Why is this starting to feel like late November 2021 again? Hope we see a little green next week and I'm out. I guess either way I'm out. Not going to ride that path again.
Thx for reminder... I hadn't remembered about that late-2021 into 2022 timeframe (I think I dodged the bullets by being in G-fund a lot), so I went back & read a couple of the TSP-Talk weekly wrap-up reports from then - and wow did the markets drop quickly and for months, especially the S-fund down about 11% after the Nov. 8, 2021 high... and overall markets were downward for a couple/few months.
That at a glance does look similar to now. Looking a little closer there were some differences that hopefully will allay somewhat concerns about the similarities: inflation post-COVID had been ramping upward while the Fed hadn't raised rates from the very long lows to combat it... but was about to start doing so (which worried the stock-markets & economy, causing market drops), and supply-chain woes from COVID impacts still slowed economy, jobs reports were turning worse, and COVID resurgent outbreak was happening across the globe. Now is similar though not the same - yet. Jobs numbers have been good, inflation has been going downward as have Fed-rates; those hopefully won't turn and get substantially worse - perhaps unless orange-man does all the silly economic and workforce things he squawked about. IDK.

Today was a good day. Not a great day. The "C" fund lagged all day and finally went green before closing. The "S" fund I think could have gone either way but closed nicely. Another surprise tomorrow. Sticky pants on and hanging on for dear life.

So, anyone in the Great Lakes area that has finally digging out of all the lake effect snow?
I'm in the northeast corner of Cuyahoga County and picked up only about 2" of snow. Some folks in Ashtabula County had almost 6' of snow. That is the northeast corner of Ohio right on the Pennsylvania line.

Crazy! What do you do with 6 feet of snow?
Some cities were using front end loaders and dump trucks to move the snow out of the area. Now forecasting temps in the upper 40's and rain for Monday and Tuesday. Some businesses and a high school had their roofs collapse from the snow.

On December 5th TSP notified me that my account was closed, and the money would be transferred by snail mail to Edward Jones on December 6th. I believe they said it could take up to 10 days. Well today my financial advisor called and said the check arrived and has been transferred to my account. Had some real good years while in TSP and a few bad ones. Those I won't miss.

Calling yesterday a red Friday. Yes, the "C" fund barely closed green at 0.01 but the other 3 were red. So far for the year (which is almost over) Fridays have closed green 30 times and 18 times red.
