Pay off whatever you can before retirement!!Congrats distant cousin!
About 2 years, 10 months and 7 days for me.
I need to start reading and asking more questions here as the plan starts to unfold! So far, we are planning on minimalistic living, from an “ex” single persons prospective  Driving the new wife nutts with all the variations of the plan each night.
ME too Birch but I have to sweep, vacuum and mop!!My wife has had me in preliminary house husband training for several years - I've recently graduated into doing all the coupon clipping and grocery shopping. I'm real good at vacuming and I always remember to replace the garbage liner - now that's progress.
May 2012, 411/2 government service (31/2 USAF and 37 NASA)
Congrats NASA.....hopefully you have a couple of years of Sick Leave to add also!
5 months left for full retirement? I was thinking the 80% on CSRS kicked in at 41yr 11months.

Need info just ask.
I planned this thing for 10 years, had it figured out long ago call it crazy but that's just me.
Best of luck Cuz!!![]()
Yep, preplanning is the key. It looks like you have it under control. That's good advice, nnuut! Not owing anybody nothing makes a big difference in how much you really need to retire comfortably. I don't need the income I used to make before I retired, debt-free. Of course, I don't have a big family to support either. That would change the situation alot! But, there won't be any "new wives" around here for me! And you can take that to the bank!!! haha!
Question retirees:
What percentage of your pre-retirement income did you plan to live off of and are you still holding to that level?
For Example: You thought you would need 70% of pre-retirement income, but you really only use 63%.
Would love to hear how that turned out for you!
Thanks Budnipper! My total taxable income is now about 1/2 of what I was earning before I retired in January, 2008. ... Life is Good!![]()
Thanks Budnipper!
Good job and smart moves.... You've done well!
So, being single, you can afford all those expensive dates now?:toung:
That's alright, just implement the "pay-as-you-go" program and that way you can set the rules!haha....Yeah, I could afford it but I mostly stay on the down-low now! You gotta watch most of the women around here...for some reason, I sense some "ulterior" motives! I guess my previous marriage of 26 years left me with some trust issues. :suspicious: hehee!
