The Hard Working American vs. the Government Parasite

America is rapidly turning into a European-style socialist welfare state and it is destroying our nation socially and financially. Ever since the "war on poverty" began our debt has absolutely exploded and yet now there are more poor people in this country than ever before. Obviously something is not working. ..."

How is housing allowance a special benefit? The only reason housing is not already worked into a military members basic pay is because the cost of living is different in every state and it wouldn't be fair for someone in California getting paid the same as someone in Oklahoma where the cost of living is much different. That is like saying the minimum wage should be the same in every state when once again it costs much more to live in California/Washington than it does states like Oklahoma, etc.

I thought most decent jobs came with health care as well. Not sure what the difference between health care and insurance is as you state it. Maybe you are talking about the life insurance we have to pay for?

Others would say that even after their pay and benefits, they aren't reimbursed enough.
Of course with your frame of mind, every employee on the planet is nothing but a parasite for taking potential profit from their employer.

Whoa, easy fellas. I didn't say anything about anyone being a parasite. The author of the posted article did. Socialized benefit programs are being attacked and frankly I don't like it. When people start attacking "parasites" of the government, I think they need to take a close look at the myriad ways everyone, including Mr. Mitt and military personnel, depend on the government AND plans their life around the rules set forth by the government.

I actually think employees, even gov't employees, provide significant VALUE to their employers. And I really wish employers would quit looking at employees as a liability rather than an asset.

So are you still holding your TZA? Also, do you setup stops on your ETF's or do you typically manually sell them?

From my research it seems it is suggested to do your buying/sell during the last hour of trading in the day since ETF's (especially 3x ones) can change rapidly and if you sell too early you may miss out on a rebound at the end of the day or something like that.

I keep a 20% stop in place, but right now only mentally. Your post is a good prod for me to set it up with my broker so it happens automatically.

If tomorrow looks like today, then we may have seen the worst of this correction, and (gulp) Birch was right.

The only thing we'll need to do is adjust our upward trend lines to the current bottom, and then move on.

To become a better trader, you have to admit your mistakes, learn from them, and move forward.

Will have to see what the end of day technical charts look like...

Thankfully I only bought 100 units of TZA so the pain isn't too bad currently. Can the uptrend continue...we shall see tomorrow.

During that last decline, I noticed that the utilities fund in my wife's ROTH account was dropping right along with the market. That was atypical action for a sector that's considered a safe haven.
