Not sure what your situation is like now - but the more I ponder about the housing situation the more I realize you were majorly burned by the circumstances and conditions by which you bought your house. And you're one of the many really decent individuals that got majorly burned - even when you're doing everything right.

I didn't say anything - because I'm not in your place; but if I was in your place I honestly don't think I've have a hard time walking away and leaving the situation behind me. So it's just another empty house in an empty neighborhood pointing out what happened....

BUT I would not be under the 'ball and chain' of a bad deal - if I'm simply the victim of bad circumstances. If I lost the down payment and went to another place that wasn't wearing me down to nothing and giving me room to breath and finding some freedom to enjoy life then that's exactly what I'd do.

Put whatever you can possibly put in the TSP and only think of it as a retirement investment - the years will pass quickly and you will want to build that as much as possible. I hope things are working out better - but the more I think about it - don't let pride keep you from doing the best thing... it is largely NOT YOUR FAULT you wound up in that situation.

Last Friday was my 1st missed mortgage payment. 1st default on a loan ever. It makes no sense to stay.

Good news is I took a large TSP loan out and bought gold at 840. Up to 981 in 1 month. Got some silver at 12 too.
