Just another in a future trend of many

Mlk-man

Just another big up day-there are many more just like'm on the way.

As of yesterday and now today - the technical internals are demonstrating a definte bullish undertone - not what you would expect at the beginning of a downtrend. Everything in indexes is either bouncing or snapping back around their MCO zero lines. The NYAD has held its 20 day EMA thus avoiding a short term sell signal, and today is moving higher - gotta hold this line.

I'm holding and I got a pretty good grip. In one hand anyway.........:D

I'll be payine close attention for any signals to get out. Since we didn't go down today, I'm half expecting Friday to be down a little but not enough to make me jump out. Of course I can't predict the future so I really don't know.

I'll probably stay in C and S until I decide which one would be best to be in right now. You know I prefer the S fund.

Well, I have the I fund being up about .97% to .98% this evening. If there's an adjustment, it should be about .25%.

Hope you were able to jump in with both barrels Tom!

Yes I followed you for the last two days! Had to make an early decision today so decided to take profits and go to the F for tomorrow.
Good luck....

The bad news is the S fund dropped and the I fund didn't pay out like it should have. The good news is being 50S and 50I yesterday delivered a small gain. The I fund still "sort of" screwed me, but I'll take anything I can get with that darned fund...........

I mentioned earlier how I thought the market might bounce around here a little bit and that is why I went 50% I for yesterday because I thought on Wed. that Thurs. might be down. Sure didn't start out that way. My thinking was also that today would be a good day. That remains to be seen..........

I'm getting a sell signal after yesterday, but if we are up today, that will most likely change for Monday. I'm hoping we are putting in a bottom here but I just don't know. If you look back to mid-Jan last year, you'll see what I think we are going through. Right now my thinking is to go 50% stocks and 50% G to try to pick up the penny in the G fund while having somethinging in stocks in case we do continue up. Retail sales should be up Monday so I'm hoping for the best. If you are a conservative investor, you might want to wait until we can string together a couple of up days.

I'll wait to see how we start today to make a final decision.

Happy returns,

M_M

Actually the I fund did do what it was supposed to. Monday and Tuesday were TSP's "adjustment" days and yesterday was the "correction". The I fund is now back where it belongs and should closely track MSCI's EAFE until the next adjustment, ususally a few weeks.

Anyone who trades into and out of the I fund fairly frequently, over a long period of time, will probably be helped by this phenomana as often as they are "screwed" by it. We tend to notice the latter more I suspect.

Is there a way to predict and time these adjustments and corrections? Leap out and miss the downward one and jump in to benefit from the upward on?

Unfortunately no. They are fairly regular in that they do them every three to four weeks but they are random as to what day, which direction, and how much.
