Market Talk / September 10th - 16th

Griffin,

It would be nice to track the top 10 in a separate sentiment survey and compare them to the general board sentiment. If that could be done it would be interesting. Might be too much work. I wonder how often they would get it correct. We could do it similar to Mike Burk... win / lose/ tie

Mike Burk was Bullish or up for this week.

Since 6-13-05 the board has been bearish over 50% only 5 times during the TSP Talk Weekly Sentiment Survey. How many times did the board get it correct? http://www.tsptalk.com/sentiment.php

This is the first time in 2006 the board has been over 50% bearish...

Any comments...

Tom,

Any thoughts on tracking the board leaders since you are already identifing the monthly top returners... Their names should not be listed only results and like Mike Burk only up or down.. Would only be for fun, but I think they would get it correct over 50% of the time. This is not a easy task since the market internals change daily...

Anyway, any thoughts on this...

Are you saying to keep the current board leaders or to change the leaders on a regular basis???

Technician,

My thought was if your in the top ten you would vote for the next four weeks.

It could be done a number of ways, but I would like to compare the data like are friend Sentiment Trader does.

Currently Smart Money 38% Dumb Money 50%.

Folks from all around will want to know what the TSP Smart Money is doing..

Keep in mind this would only be done for fun, but the results could prove to be very interesting... I'm not saying the rest of us are Dumb Money, but Emotional money might be a better word. Again, it would be for fun. However, the results in the long run could prove to be beneficial...

Take Care and have a good one!

While this strategy of emulation sounds good, and I intend to try it in some form, there is a difference of opinion as regards its advisability. See my recent account talk thread.

We could toss around some ideas on how to do that. Would we PM the leaders, use a poll on the board, email? Any suggestions?

Trade balance widens. Surprise! NOT!

Janet Yellen speaks 3:30 est..........eww.

CNBC reports 60% change of "Fed tightening".......eww.

The stength this morning is a very postiive sign for me. I think I'm about ready to make a move back into stocks. Let's see how the morning holds out. Five days of down and it's time for a trip back north.

Getting more bullish.....(Snort!)

I managed to do mucho buying last week and so far that seems propitious. I bet September springs a bullish surprise leading into Spring. But I still have more purchases to make - never a dull moment when it's time to buy.

I just got in....looks like the market is positive this morning....

It seems Spaf finally got off his helmet too. Could it be that poor Teddy is caught - if so he has lots of company. And they will be covering those short positions grudingly for several months. Let the games begin.

I'm surprised not to hear from Sugar or Spice; no move since the 29th of August. They're still sitting in a pile of Bonds.

If Teddy and his friends stay on the go to cover their shorts, we could easily be over Dow 11,722.98 by the end of the week for a new all-time high. The industrials will pull up the transports (oil is going below $64.00) and give us a Primary Dow Theory buy confirmation - following the utilities from a week or so back. Snort.

Who will be cluck, clucking to the G fund tomorrow? Come on now, you know in your gut this rally ain't real - you'll be caught in the bull trap right along with Teddy. It's a long steep slide from these lofty heights - no need to be a hero - save yourself and seek cozy shelter before it's too late. This small fake out bull move is over - take the lucky money and run - and don't dare look back. Your nightmare could be worse than Sleepy Hollow.

Birchtree, I think you are right! Of course, this is probably only rationalization as I am sitting in G right now...

Yes, but tomorrow will reveal if your alacrity was actually prophetic :D . Someone may want to take some profit off the top on a one-day run like this...

You gotta love those trader accounts. Made the train as she was pulling out.
Now it's a wait and see with TSP.
Had a hunch that the doji dragonfly would bite that bull at yesterdays closing! That was a good signal. To bad the Slow-STO couldn't have gone down a little more!

It seems Spaf finally got off his helmet too....Let the games begin.
