Market Talk / Oct. 5 - 11

I was wrong as usual. The S&P500 went down another 5.6% today. Ending at 998 just below the emotional 1000 mark. It hasn't been this low since 2003.

Tomorrow? I think it will go down < 2%.

There's no shortage of traders getting hammered. News is trumping everything right now. What I'm finding somewhat disturbing is that nothing the Gov is saying in the media is being sugarcoated anymore. I'm not sure that's a good thing or not. :worried:

When ya got a greedy financial institution (AIG) blowing a half-million on an exotic management vacation (reported on the 7th), after the near trillion dollar bailout approval... folks get pretty pissed. There's no faith in the markets and financial systems.

That seems to be what the market is saying. It's like a revolt against the elite.

The Dow could go below 9000 today. I thought we would have an up day.

Right now the Dow is at 8925, down 3.6%.

I really think it will keep going down until the WWII generation people (like Birch) that have been in stocks for 40 years (and believed in it) finally get out.

At 4:07 PM CNN says DOW down 609, Marketwatch says down 660. Apparently, there was such a flurry of activity at the very end that the system choked.

Markets close but there are always orders still in the system. I always wait until 1630 Eastern to see final!

I hope soon, because if it isn't we're in trouble, big trouble. :(

CB

We are in big, big trouble.

Big big big trouble.

Folks- I went through 1987, and this is worse than then- 1987 was bad for a day or two and then rebounded.

This one is not rebounding. It's defying all logic, experience, history.

It's bad.

I need a drink.

That's what makes this HISTORICAL...We are all a part of history now....kids will learn about us in school. Man, wouldn't it be cool if somebody in TSP became famous because of this debacle!!!One of you, NOW, grab your shield and sword and go to Cave of Depression and slay the Dragon of Recession!!!!
